    Savings account?

We have a little bit of money left over at the end of the month to save ~ in case something happens to a fridge or washer or whatever other type of emergency may show up...could our trustee take it if we put it in a savings account? Would it be best to just keep it in a lock box at home? That would just be so tempting to get into here. I mean, we have to have something to fall on since we obviously aren't using credit cards anymore ~ and have NO desire to ever have one again.

I have a fire safe at home that we keep our savings in. Don't think the trustee would come after it (ours has been quite reasonable so far) but don't want to tempt fate either.

Get a fireproof box or safe and keep it at home if you wish. The key is NOT to touch it for other than what you are saving for. While that pizza take out might be tempting, that cash needs to be held on the side...As I mentioned before in some previous postings, a tip for saving some funds for birthday presents, weddings, Christmas, etc. (whatever event you want to save for) is to get a big jar or bottle and and the end of each day, both of you put your change in your pocket or wallet into the jar or bottle and DON'T touch it. You will be surprised what you can save over the course of a year doing that and you do not miss it.
