Can i get new job in Chap 13

In chap.13 since oct. of this year. Laid off of job last friday (major electronic store) you know the one. I have heard that it is very difficult to find new job because many companies run background checks and credit reports. Has this happened to anyone? thanks

First, you need to inform your attorney you lost your job and in order for your Chapter 13 to continue you will need to find one ASAP (was in your same shoes right after we filed and my company went bankrupt - my attorney told me to get employment right away which I did). Since you just filed in October, it may or may not be on your credit reports yet but it should not pose a big problem for you unless you attempt to find a job in the financial sector where you could be involved with handling accounts, checks, cash or credit cards. I would not let that stand in my way of trying to find a position right now. First thing, though, contact your attorney.

Thank you! I have left 3 message for my lawyer and 2 emails, waiting for response. The layoff affected 4,000 people in my area (he may be busy!)
I am planning on walking in to his office tomorrow. My actual end date of employment is 3-21-09 (severance). I have an interview tomorrow. wish me luck.

I am not an attorney. None of my advice is legal advice in any way..

Some companies that do a lot of Goverment contracts do credit checks. I was told by one atty that is another sector besides finance that can hurt your chances.
