Bk and Insurance Settlement

I live in the North East and we have been hammered by the weather recently. Our home has sustained some storm damage due to the weight of the snow and ice and my enclosed (but partially collapsed roof) front porch. I have to file a claim with my home insurance to get it repaired. Probably several thousand dollars. I am filing BK in a few months...so how is the trustee going to look at this payment?

If I get the check and use it exclusively for the repairs, I am hoping it will not be a problem??

As long as you have receipts and backup for the repairs and documentation that the work was completed and that the money was not used for other things, there should not be a problem. Before proceeding with anything, do first consult with your BK attorney.
