Hi everyone. It's been awhile since I've posted. My husband and I paid off our Chapter 13 in full last summer and sold our home through a short sale. 11 months ago we were introduced to the NACA program, went to their workshop, did everything we were supposed to do, kept perfect records and documentation, saved money, etc. We were told by our mortgage consultant that we shouldn't have any problems. Husband's income increased and, of course we have no debts with the exception of a few medical bills, some of which we paid off at NACA's request.
Here's the kicker--over a month ago we were told that the CEO of NACA approved us, but apparently the NACA underwriters won't release our file and let us begin looking for a house to purchase. (By the way, NACA stands for Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America and it is a program for people who have been victims of predatory lending.) I call our consultant several times per week, keep submitting bank statements and pay stubs, but again no answers as to why we keep getting the run around.
Meanwhile we are renting a dump! It is falling apart and the landlord lives out of town. I know there are people living in cardboard boxes and that I should be grateful, but I AM SO FRUSTRATED!!!!!
Anyone have any experience with NACA or know of another avenue we can pursue? Our income is around $80,000 per year, and like I said we have no debts now. (We live in the South so housing isn't very expensive.)
Sorry for such a long post. Maybe I'm crabby, too, because it is 100 degrees here!!!
