Got approved for credit card

Just applied and got an online approval for a platinum credit card with Credit one. There is an annual fee and a one time program fee of $69 each but it is much better than First Premier and the others. CI is $1,500. I am only going to use this to charge a couple of things just to show that I am using it and paying it off monthly. Here is their website:

I hope this help others in re-establishing credit.

Thanks.

I used to have one of their cc's, but I included them in my BK.

are they charging you to make online payments?

No, it is not listed as a charge. They are giving monthly access to my credit scores from Trans Union for free.

I got that same card for work purposes with a $750 limit. I'm happy with it, except they do charge to make payments online so I have to mail it in. I figure it's a good start, plus $750 is plenty for me.

I tried applying and got this message:

The address you provided is outside of our service area. You are not eligible for this program.

I live in WI. Not sure why it matters WHERE I live.

I was curious when I read your post so I went to the CreditOne site and read the T & C's - sure enough, if you live in WI they will not grant you credit! I think because WI has some very interesting laws protecting consumers from the mandatory arbitration that the card issuers use now. A recent Court of Appeals case found the mandatory arbitration clause in credit card agreements is unenforceable! See Coady v. Cross Country Bank, Inc., 2007 WI App 26
(Ct. App. 2007).

So.....that is excellent news for WI residents. But it may hinder getting new credit. Not a bad thing after BK

Hmmm, mine still says approved waiting to be mailed. When did it tell you the amount? Maybe I just missed it along the way somewhere.

Wait until you get hit with the initial $69 start up fee and the other fees involved. Your first bill will probably be as much as your credit limit. Watch the monthly fees with this card and it will make it easy to go over your limit and get stuck bad. This reminds me of the old Aspire Bank card that was tauted while we were in Chapter 13 - we would get something in the mail each month from them and the monthly/yearly fees and start up costs were awful. No wonder the place is not around anymore.

There are better start up banks out there. I recommend Orchard Bank which is BK friendly, has a decent percentage rate and just a yearly fee but no other start up or monthly charges and free online payments.
