    Moving during bankruptcy...a total experience!

To those of you just begining this process & those of you like me, waiting to close...here's what the moving experince for me was like...while still in the process of bk....

    1. The anticipation of waiting to hear about your credit check that you just paid $50 for someone to look at & know that you're basically f*cked for credit...but yet GETTING APPROVED ANYHOW!!!

(I don't know how that happened...maybe because I've been at my job since November of 2004 and paid my rent without fail from 2003 to present...???)

    2. Figuring out how to move your belongings without the $ for renting a u-haul......and even though the friends that said they'd move you didn't ((too early on Saturday morning for that one.), but one came through with a big 6'x 12' open trailer and the other did some touch up painting while enjoying the moving party....

    3. Finding out that the key to the new apt. does not fit and a tropical storm/possible hurricane is now approaching the west coast of FL...when else would I pick to move?

    4. Being lucky to get someone else's nice furniture (free from mold) but having to move it down three flights of stairs and then up another...between the rain....

    5. Living out 1/2 the security deposit so you don't have to pay any rent for the month of June becuase you do have to pay 1/2 the rent at the new place and hoping it will all somehow even out....

    6. Waiting for some "checks in the mail" from some cleaning jobs that will pay for the cell phone bill that's now 2 months behind (can't figure out why but it must have been to take care of something else that needed attending to...)....and the "checks in the mail" are a week late...if that doesn't have the tendency to have us on a yogurt & banana diet...I don't know what does...

    7. And, finally, when the move is complete and you can't climb another step...the manager of the old beach house says..."you didn't clean the bathroom good enough...there's mold...."DUH...that's what I've been screaming about for at least a month"....and I didn't clean the oven...and I didn't repaint the red wall that looks great with the black/white kitchen floor...finally giving in and agreeing just to get the possible $200 back from the security deposit...only to have a call come last night at 10:12 p.m. when I'm asleep...telling me to forget painting & cleaning 'cause it's taken care of & please get the washer & dryer out because the new people will be coming in this weekend....

    8. Does that mean they are truely slumlords and will not be cleaning the A/C ducts? and ... the new people will soon be getting the mold sickness because now, not only does the air quality suck, but the carpeting is full of old dog hair & mold spores...plus the windows don't quite shut from two years of strong hurricane winds????

OK..well...that's what's been going on with my move...thank god we're out & I just had to vent a bit...thank you & if you have to move during your bk, may it be easier than my move!

I lived in Oregon for awhile so I know the whole mold stuff in the bathroom--my trick before moving out--CLR! Bleach wouldn't budge it, but CLR worked.

I just called the manager to let her know we were TOTALLY OUT! we called the island scraps picker-uper and he picked up the fridge that had been sitting out front since Sunday....As far as the deposit...it was $700...we were there from the 1st of June and physically out the 17th...but not the W/D until today the 22nd..so she'll probably give me 8 days worth of $ back...figuring on the worst...23.33/day...would be $163.00...that would go right to my cell phone bill, worst coming to worst.

Trooping in the heat like everyone else...and I just saw news up on internet that this is the hottest summer in 400 years...no wonder we're all crabby & irratated like it's August!

I hope someone can benefit by my experience!

          Amislander,

Glad to hear you've gotten moved out and away from the mold and on to a new start......

Will take you a while to get reorgaized but it will be well worth it I'm sure.

          Keep us posted,
          Minny

My suggestions are from "personal experience" and research only. Do not consider this as legal advice. Each bankruptcy case is different.

            Thank you Minny!!!

We are actually all unpacked & set up in our new apartment home. My boyfriend (crazy as he is...) made sure we did all of our unpacking last Sunday so that when we started to work this week, we would come home to a normal looking place. My living room has the sofa that refused to go through the door...but did make it over the 2nd floor balcony with the help of three other people...a nice big oversized sleepy chair and 4 bookcase/shelving units with 2 on each side of my tv that sits on a black steamer trunk. BF unpacked the kitchen & told me to "stay out of his kitchen" as he does love to cook...he decorated above the cabinets and it does look wonderful...I think we lived on $20 since Sunday but I got paid today...and his check is tomorrow...I'm looking at my banana right now...but it is healthy! We have a nice, comfy king size bed with my two old antique dressers and that's it!

We got rid of a lot of junk...stuff...and are so pleased to be able to wake up & not feel fatigued.

Glad you are surviving! I seriously want to move to Alaska--it is so hot here in MS. When I went to my car after work yesterday, the temperature read 110 degrees! It only went down to 96 on my way home.

And this humidity! I think I'm evolving gills!!!!
