late bills after discharge on experian already

ok...so ya know...I blew off my home verizon bill...while trying to catch up with other bills and I have a medical bill that I owe on..

    phone $132.00

    med $200.00

I was thinking of calling up both and asking if I could pay like $25 a month to at least get them paid off????

At least they're not out of reach!

Medical bills will usually accept a payment plan. The other phone bill will be more likely to expect and demand full payment within a short period of time.

As I long as I pay $10-20 a month on medical (depending on the company), they don't get their panties in an uproar.

LOL so we are not alone...

I posted back in May, that my son was injured (at my Brother's wedding), and we were in the ER uunti 4am...big fiasco!!! Broken finger, tore off nail, they had to knock him out and suture the nail back on. Anyway...everything totaled $3581.00 Our medical insurance paid for most of it, but we still owe:

        $519.00 to the frigging Hospital
        $59.00 to the ER doc
        $42.00 to the Radiologist
        $83.00 to the Orthopedic

This f#%^*#$ sucks!!!!! We were finally released of medical bills!! I have sent them $25 for a month now and so far they haven't complained. I havn't called yet either. So we will see how it goes.

We are a gluten for medical bills with 2 VERY active boys!!!!
        I want to cry!

Usually if you owe a bill, even if you pay a small amount each month against it, most companies will accept it and say no more.....

It's when you make no effort at all, they get upset..... and start the harrassing....

Try to work out a payment plan that you can afford each month...... even if it's a small one, discuss this with them, let them know your intention to pay....

Over $700 just like that! My doctor wants me to start physical therapy several times a week and when he said that all I could see were dollar signs!

YEAH, thanks for reminding me .....LOL

Call your insurance. I used to work as an administrative assistant for the hospitals P.T. department. Alot of people did not know that P.T. is covered. When your insurance and they can tell how many sessions/how long/and where to do. Most think that it isn't covered, but insurances have been pretty good, even I was surprised. Also see if the hospital your insurance deal with, can give you a reduced rate for going to the outpaitent therapy. If I can help let me know.

I know it's covered, but I still have to pay 20% which can easily be $35 per visit out of my pocket.

And now I have another series of spinal injections scheduled for Aug 3 and that will run me about $250 again. Argh!

Ouch, Anon! It doesn't take long at all for medical costs like these to add up. Hope the treatments are successful and your back feels better very soon.

It just keeps on making me put off filing too--I don't want to go thru this and do BK then still have these loads of bills to pay.

Absolutely - whenever you have the choice, it's a real advantage to plan ahead so as much as possible is written off when you file. Also be sure to include the cost for all ongoing doctor-ordered medical treatments and tests on your expenses when filing as well.

I recently found out how much my own emergency hospitalization that happened 12 days after we filed Ch 13 cost. The hospital filed a bill with our insurance company for a little over $20,000 (gasp!) and who knows how much of that we will end up owing ourselves. It also doesn't include what we'll owe from the follow-up visits to my doctors and additional outpatient tests either. Sigh...if our plan manages to be confirmed before Oct 5 and we don't know the total we will be responsible for by then, I see a plan amendment request coming in our near future.

I need to talk to my lawyer since when I signed the retainer, it said that I had to file within 45 days. Now with a bunch of injections coming (probably 6-8 under sedation) on Aug 3, and potentially another surgery (which most insurance companies don't cover) I'm just at a loss what do do.

I have all these other bills due right now too, but I'm going to make some nominal payments, maybe $20 each, just to get places off of my back since they're all in the same group (I think they use the same billing) so I don't want anyone to deny me having these procedures by telling them I'm going into BK.

I'm starting physical therapy next week and that 20% will add up fast. I need to talk to the billing office tomorrow and see what approximate costs this is going to add up to and whether I can afford it.

At least the pain management specialist (MD) finally took a good look comparing my MRIs. He told me specifically that he was comparing them as if he was asked to testify and said it was "good news" that even though I have a previously bulging disk, it has now been displaced downward and shows an annular tear like it's been torn off downwards on the side of the vertebrae. Funny how we're calling this "good news", but I'm hoping for a decent settlement so that these doctors won't stop seeing me since they are the absolute best around.

Hang in there, Anon. Bk shouldn't demand that we live with physical pain and suffering along with our mental pain and suffering. Sometimes figuring out the timing of everything around filing seems overwhelming...and then there's always the unexpected to spice things up a bit. I'm hoping that in your case everything will work out beautifully - keep us posted, ok?
