    When the phone rings.....

......you most likely assume it's a family member or friend calling to say hello. Well, I got 2 of these last night, but there was that few seconds delay after I say hello. It's Chase Bank calling to offer me a credit card. WTF! I got dozens of these offers in the mail after my discharge, and they never made it into the house with me........right in the trash can in the garage. And now they are calling me on the phone.

I allow the guy do his sales pitch and then he asks if he may ask me a few questions. I ask him if I can ask a question instead. He agrees. I ask him if he is able to provide information about credit after Ch.7 BK. I'm playing a game with him. I know, kinda rude, but I love getting these people on a roll, thinking they've got me roped in and then, give a very firm "NO, DON'T CALL HERE AGAIN!"

I think I'm going to let my answering machine pick-up from now on, except I'm going to change the greeting. What do you think of this; "Hello, you have reached 999-9999, we are unable to take your call at this time." "If you'd like to leave a message for My Name,, press 1. "If you'd like to leave a message for Wife's Name, press 2." "If this is a telemarketer or credit card company, press your ear close to the receiver......(and I scream) GET A LIFE!" (click).

All I have to say is WOW! Pretty intense... If you get added to the "Do Not Call List" doesn't that stop those calls as well?
    My credit scores:
Before Filing: Tr 496, Ex 496, Eq 507

    Today: Tr 618 (+122), Ex 601 (+105), Eq 623 (+116)

Why it makes me so mad is, this crap always happens when I'm in the middle of something, and I stop to answer the phone. I would never expect it to be a credit card offer, and I think it's usually a family member or friend. I just get aggrivated that they interrupted what I was doing. I believe that after our BK was over, I wouldn't have to worry about answering the phone.

We use to cringe every time the phone rang wondering if it was a bill collector etc... we tried at first to do the right thing by calling and setting up payment plans explaining our situation etc sometimes they'd work with us sometimes they wouldnt and some were down right RUDE and belittling....
it got to where we never answered thephone until we knew who it was.
Constantly on edge stressing out.... then bk happened
now were getting use to answering the phone again before we know who it is and its a great feeling. i may even put our answering machine message back on, lol so if i get calls asking us to open a charge card with them etc.... i would just immediately before they started there speech say not interested no thank you and hang up. BUT with that in mind, u (not u personally just anyone) should really get yourself on a do not call list so you don t get all those spam calls.
I love being on it. I feel i pay monthly to have phone service and i dont want to be bothered listing to those telemarketers....especially at dinner time....
which they are famous for calling during. Jus my two cents

I have wierd messages on my answering machine and cell voicemail now.

After trying to do the right thing and pay our bills. Or work something out with the Creditors, which they were no help at all. Then not being able to pay bills, I hated getting Creditor calls. If we were at home and it showed Unknown Caller, Unknown Number, we'd let the answering machine pick up. Where the caller heard,.........

You've reached the number you dialed. You may leave a message if you want. We might or might not get back to you.

Calls to the house phone dropped off.

My cell voicemail is really wierd.

Congradulations! You've reached the year 2006! Please leave a message at the tone. You may or may not be of interest to us. We may or may not get back to you.

Calls to the cell phone dropped off too.

            I wonder why??!!

sinking & Bass-those messages are great! Our phone has a 3 toned ring to it if it is an unkown name and number-I don't even get up to check anymore-just rings, rings, rings and rings and rings all the time. Hopefully after this week and the stay goes into effect all that damn ringing will stop.

Yes, love those messages, SF and Bass!

Miss Puff, seven weeks after filing Ch 13, our telephone has gone mercifully, totally silent except for calls from family and friends. After more than a year of daily and nightly ringing torture by creditors and collection agencies (we never answered the phone either), this silence is truly golden!

Time for the no call list! And keep track of any calls you do get since you can get $500 a pop for them if you pursue it. If there's one feature I won't give up on my phone, it's caller id. First, to know who is calling. Second, when people leave numbers so quickly that I can't understand them, I know I can still see the number on my caller ID. And, lastly, I have problems with a person who harasses me so I can identify when they're at it again.
