    Feeling Stupid, Stupid, Stupid!!!

Well, I've screwed up royally!!!! Things have been tighter than they should be the last six weeks and it's bitten me in the butt. The result is several overdraft fees that I absolutely cannot afford. I am really mad at myself, but have taken a hard look at what went awry and what I need to do to correct the problem. The kids have been home this summer and there have been a couple of "slip-ups" that cannot happen anymore.

This ever happened to any of y'all? I'm trying to take responsibility and also not beat myself up over this.

What bank are you with? I may be able to offer a little advise.
    My credit scores:
Before Filing: Tr 496, Ex 496, Eq 507

    Today: Tr 618 (+122), Ex 601 (+105), Eq 623 (+116)

Jane, don't go postal on us - we need you too badly! Hey, everyone makes mistakes - it's what you do after the mistakes that matters, and you are doing the right thing by correcting whatever caused the problem to start with. Hang in there - this too shall pass. Until then, you know we are here for you 100%.

Luckily we had a savings cushion but yes, I've messed up a few times.

        It sucks.

jane - I have been the poster child for doing that...the only thing that saved us was overdraft protection. We tried not to use it but desperate times call for desperate measures. We have family emergencies going on and those are things that you obviously cannot always plan for...our family and my husband's parents...the bank we are with now...Suntrust...would not help their own mother out. They bought out NBC and those guys were great. We were not big depositers but they always treated us with respect and tried to help us when they could. Suntrust is a different story. Depositers who were formerly with NBC have left the bank in droves. The tellers are rude and act like they are doing you a favor taking your deposit(?)....We opened up an account with our local credit union and they are awesome...anyway it happens...no one is perfect...except my sister in law who says she has never bounced a check and she is in her 40's...what she forgets to mention is her parents have given she and my brother money for a down payment for a car, taxes, etc....not exactly like the rest of us who dont have that safety net...good luck...

I had an overdraft, last month. First time in years. I forgot about AOL being an auto deduct from our acct. We access the Net thru BroadBand, but we kept the basic little $5/mo AOL plan for the email addresses. I knew the bank balance had gone down tight, but I thought we'd be OK. Then got pinged for that AOL fee and was rewarded with a $31 overdraft charge.

It's tough with the kids home for the summer. Thank goodness, school starts back up here in a couple of weeks!

I totally know what you are talking about when it comes to Suntrust. I used to work for Suntrust and that's why I QUIT because of the way they operate. They also bought out CCB and life was much better working for CCB.

                Thanks, y'all!

Yes, it's been tough with the kids at home this summer. It's $3.00 for this, $5.00 for that, etc. And it will kill your budget!

I will try and not go postal, but I cannot guarantee it ! BK + teenage boy acting like a teenage boy + job hunting is just about to send me over the edge. I was teetering to begin with and now it is scary !

Yea!!! It's almost quittin' time and my friend is coming over for dinner and is bringing a very large bottle of vino! Yep, "a toddy for the body" as Minnie says.

                Cheers to my friends here

Jane, Jane, Jane---have I EVER had overdraft fees.....lets just say B of A could have paid for a new branch off of my OD charges for a few months there...
AAARGG though I know just how you feel.. Mine charges $35 each!

My problem has been being too busy to keep track closely enough. I have been much better since the bk, but boy it was pretty bad for a while.

Take heart, most everyone has done it a time or two.

Hi I don't know if you all know this but if you have a broadband carrier other than AOL you can get AOL for free (no fees being withdrawn from your account) I know it sounds too good to be true but it is true. I found the information on a freebie board that I have been a member of for years and I called and it did work for me as well.

If you'd like more info check the following info out
Avoid those AOL w/d fee's and possible OD charges because you forgot about it

                      If you call

                      Call 1-888-265-8003
                      Select Cancellation Department
Tell them that you access AOL via your Broadband provider and heard that AOL is offering free access provided that you utilize your broadband connection (non-AOL).
If they give it to you, they'll read off a bunch of terms and conditions.
                      New plan is effective immediately.
If they give you a hard time just keep going forward with the cancellation and they will stop and give it to ya. That has been the experience I've seen on the boards I visit.

I did call...took a while to actually get a person on the phone...
It worked/....and she was very nice and did it for me happily.

                      Here is an article...

the last paragraph...eludes to the freebie!!

                      Hope this helps someone
                      Smiles,
                      Barb
