My Credit 4 mos Post BK is better than ever!

Went to a local credit union to apply for a bank account. They called and told me due to my 'good credit', I was pre approved for a visa platinum with 7.5% interest with a minimum credit line of $7,500, maximum $25,000. I said 7,500 was plenty, and they called me back 2 hours later to say I was approved!

This is my single largest tradeline so far, I now have 8 zer0 balance credit cards with limits totalling over 15k! And thats plenty. Time to start weeding out the rif raff! Goodbye: Orchard, Household, Capital One, Hooters....

Thanks! Not flaunting either... FYI to all, try your local credit unions BEFORE getting ripped off or declined by all the big companies. Wish I would have known about this way sooner...

Congrats.... I am really happy for u since it's ur story that I have been talking to my parents about when I talk about life after BK isnt so bad.

Ummm can u tell me what ur credit report looks like? Is the BK on there or did u have it removed and did u leave a credit line open before filing so after the discharge u could have still had it.

Nothing got removed, the BK shows as well as the accounts that were included in BK. There were no surviving credit lines that carried over, I opened all new accounts.

                    I may start doing this.

My local credit union absolutely won't touch anyone unless they are MINIMUM 2.5 years post BK... I am thinking about shopping around, and seeing if one of the other ones is BK friendlier......

Yup. My old credit union (included in bk), wouldn't give me a credit card pre-bk (back when I had good credit and no late bills) despite having paid them in full and early on 2 auto loans!

                      Shop around.

They're all different I guess. I didn't even join this CU until I was 3 months closed and discharged... I have never had an overdraft fee, keep a lot of money in my savings, and they STILL won't even do reconsideration.

                        I'll keep trying though!
