    Confession...am I sick or what?

I don't know if it is the meds the doctor gave me to help with my gambling problem, but I find myself laughing my ass off when I see all the money I won't have to pay MBNA, Chase, Citi, Discover, Amex Express, Sam's Club, and Universal Card. I am wondering if I should get my med adjusted, or ask for more. I feel guilty about laughing about it, but damn, I see others oweing similiar amounts, some even more than I do, and just can't keep from laughing my ass off.

Oh well, maybe I'm having a nervous breakdown, I don't know. It does feel good to be able to laugh about it, but at the same time, I feel guilty as hell about laughing about it.

    Anybody else had similiar emotions?

The stress of filing, meeting with the trustee, plan confirmation and whatever other hoops that you had to jump through is behind you, and you can begin living again. I am in a chapter 13 with 45 payments to go, but the past year has been a breeze compared to what I had to go through when I filed. You are feeling a huge sense of relief, just like I did. We just have to complete our payment schedule and get to the other side where discharge is waiting. We can do it too!! Good Luck.

Just a natural human reaction to finally having incredible long-term stress reduced significantly, aa. Soldiers have the very same reaction once the battles are over and they are safe once again. Enjoy your laughter - it's the body's very best medicine to reverse the bad effects of years of financial stress.

I agree with bkbiker, as usual. At first, I took such great glee telling creditors they could no longer call me and I took such intensen pleasure telling them to contact my attorney, especially after the years of harassment.
Then I would get low and think that I was laughing at someone for doing their job and they wouldn't be calling me if I hadn't screwed up so badly.

Once the "honeymoon" was over, I almost forgot I was in a BK at times.

We have Chase Banks popping up all over town now. They are taking over locations where "old" banks used to be. I used to cringe when I saw them. Now I think, "Won't be doing biz with you anytime soon!"

Ditto's to BKB, Aa!! Glad to see you enjoying life again!!

You arent sick, you are just feeling the overwhelming relief of not having to pay these bills anymore. There is always the euphoria that comes right after you file...but, and there is a but... You have 56 months left to pay under your Ch. 13. 56 months is a very, very long time. And about 1 or 2 years into it, when you get tired of the limitations that CHh. 13 has put on your life, the novelty wears off. I speak from experience. We had 56 months as well. About 20 months into it, the car broke down, and we needed a new roof. Guess what? No credit card to fall back on...no way to go and get a new car...life stinks. We just refinanced to get the BK paid off and we're done. Never to see the BK court again! It all has been a valuable lesson and I am much wiser about the choices I make. But, I could not have stuck it out for another 36 months... 56 months is a long time. Reality hasnt kicked in for you yet.

I agree. I am in a 48 months and it seemed so easy at first. 20 months into it now and I am trying to refinance out. Car accident and didn't have the money to pay the deductible. Kid starting school, needs supplies and school clothes. Gas costs more.

The honeymoon period is fun while it lasts...

Yeah, I have 56 months left and think it sucks. Guess I didn't make it the first couple of years. I will see what I can do to buy out of it after 36 months. I hope it is possible to do that as the attorney has told me. I will see at that time.

You may not have to wait the 36 months. We refinanced after 26 months and we paid only the remaining secured balance, none of the unsecured. I just couldnt take it anymore. I felt so stuck... I'm glad its over.

bkdone, This is interesting information. Can you explain more? Was only having to pay the remaining secured balance a Trustee decision? Or something specific to your state?

I thought that if you paid before 36 months, you had to pay back 100% of all debt you filed?
