You don't have to wait to change your exemptions until January - you can change them now to get the amount you want withheld for this year, then change them again in January to get 2007 to equal what you want as well. Here's the IRS publication that explains how to do it (and it has very helpful worksheets too!) - http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/p919.pdfOriginally posted by sauceyhi guys!hope someone can help with this one.im planning on filing on friday.my lawyer says they may or may not take my income tax refund come february /march.even if its not mentioned at the 341 they can still come back and take it.he suggests changing my exemptions so it will be less come next year and ill bring more money home in the mean time.can they just take that one refund or can they take ones for years to come.?also come january can i change my exemptions to what they were before?thanks!I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.
