    Boy, did I screw up....refinancing.

Wish I would have come across this message board before I refinanced. See, I consolidated alot of my cc debt and now its my 2nd that is giving me fits. Still have some cc debt, but wonder if bk13 can actially help me in my case.

First step is to stop spending more than you earn. If you don't make that change in life, refinancing and even filing Chapter 13 will not help at all.

Yes, this is true, that is for sure.

I thought I had money problems before I filed for bankruptcy, but the real trouble started after I filed and didn't have access to credit cards any longer.

That is when I was hit right in the face with the reality of not living beyond my means. It's a hard transition to make if you, like I, have lived your whole life buy whatever you wanted without even looking at the price or considering how long it would take to pay off.

I now have a budget which I have to follow. If I don't, I won't survive. At first it was hard to follow, but you know, I feel good about myself now. I think of it as a challenge.

If you are behind on mortgage payments with no means to catch them up so your lender could foreclose on your home, then filing Ch 13 can definitely help you. Are you in arrears on either of your mortgages? If you are, how many months? And do you have other secured debts?
I am not a lawyer and this is not legal advice nor a statement of the law - only a lawyer can provide those.

        06/01/06 - Filed Ch 13
        06/28/06 - 341 Meeting
        07/18/06 - Confirmation Hearing - not confirmed, 3 objections
10/05/06 - Hearing to resolve 2 trustee objections
01/24/07 - Judge dismisses mortgage company objection
        09/27/07 - Confirmed at last!
06/10/11 - Trustee confirms all payments made
        08/10/11 - DISCHARGED !

        10/02/11 - CASE CLOSED
Countdown: 60 months paid, 0 months to go
