Chapter 13 Dismissed after Confirmation

I filed for Chaper 13 on 9/9/08 and my case was confirmed on 11/25/08. Paid into the plan for 4+ years but was unable to finish out the case and the current status is: Dismissed after Confirmation. The case was closed on 12/19/13.The balance of the secured claims were paid in full after the case was dismissed. What should I do now and how long will this dismissal stay on my credit report.

Chapter 13's will stay on your reports for 7 years from the filing date. If your filing date was truly Sept 2008 then it should not be reporting at all and you should dispute it with all of the bureaus it is still reporting on.

According to information myfico.com, the 7 years is for completed Chap 13s. The law (§ 605 of the Federal Fair Credit Reporting Act) requires that a bankruptcy be removed after 10 years. It is the credit reporting agencies that decided to remove Chapter 13s after only 7 years. You can try to dispute it, but if they will tell you it will remain until 9/2018, they are in compliance with the law.
