Did I mess up? Spending after 341.

Hi everyone. Frequent lurker, non frequent poster.

Anyway, we had our 341 on march 17th and all went well.

We had an account with a furniture store and they came and repossessed all our tvs.

After the 341 we went to sears and bought a new tv on our debit card (750) to replace one of the ones they took.

Now after reading more here I am freaking out.

I can still return it, but would that matter now that it is already done?

i don't think the trustee's office will take a "look" back. however, i'm somewhat confused as to why someone, and i'm not meaning to be judgmental here at all, would pay $750 for a tv.

i have to tell you, we had to buy one also....it's a 22 inch flat screen we got for $188 on sale at walmart, which has to do until we can afford more.

someone else may chime in with another experience, but i don't think most courts have time to back track after you already went through your 341.

Yeah, that is a valid question. And I am double thinking why we did that too. We use exempt funds, that we thought we may have to give the trustee but he told us to keep them at the 341. So we used part of that.

well, if the trustee told you to keep the funds......i think your question may be ...just a bit that you feel guilty about spending $750 on the tv.......i say....ENJOY!!! if you were allowed to keep the funds, and it made you happy to buy this.......then fine.

(but remember .. time to try and save now!!!).

Thanks, that makes me feel a little better. I just don't want to mess this up.

I agree. I think it's your conscience talking to you. Do you feel a little guilty about discharging debts and then using money (that you could have used to pay off people you owed) to buy a really nice--it better be really nice for $750--tv?

i agree the trustee is not going to look at what happened after.. he only wanted my bank statement as of the day of filing in my case. but after filing chap 7, i struggle to make ends meet and pay basic expenses. i found a job that covers basic rent, utilities etc.. but i drive a 15 year old jeep that i worry about constantly. i am grateful the apartment i live in provided the 42 inch tv when i moved in!! ha ha...nothing is concrete nowadays... any extra money i may have will be saved for an emergency like an unexpected expense for the jeep or health matter as i my work does not provide health insurance. i would say save your extra funds...
