Filinf income taxes after discharge? Any advice?

Anything I should think about when filing my taxes for 2011?

I did not get my discharge until February 2012, but I'm interested in tips for 2011.

I never paid any mortgage payments, although I was billed them. Can I still write off the mortgage interest? Ditto for credit card interest and fees. I did not pay them, but was billed them.

    thanks -

You cannot deduct credit card interest and fees on a 1040 Schedule A. That deduction was eliminated back in the 1980s. Since you did not pay any mortgage payments for 2011, you paid no interest on the mortgage and therefore have no deduction. To attempt to list it otherwise is fraud and could result in an audit or your return pulled by the IRS and adjusted by them. I suggest for you to be on the safe side as to your filing to consult with or have your 2011 returns done by a tax professional.
