i'm hoping the best for you! i think you'll end up with one of the those nice jobs...maybe with a bit of security...if possible!!

tiss tiss...no need for even YOU to be insulting....

well...i thought it quite thoughtful and very intelligent...and much to the left....i love wasting your time... it's my favorite past time.

you don't get it...if you don't get something you just assume it's wrong, it's not, it's right...people are entitled to what they have paid in and in as much as the BLS...i'm correct...their stats are unfounded and a lie...untruths simple...plain and lies.

i understand you believe and trust in the bls info...and you have a perfect right to do just that....AND....because it's wrong...that's ok as well. most likely you personally have never experienced these types of situations in your lifetime...so it is always easier to view from the outside in. i don't want you to rant back and tell me how you worked all your life and lost your job and paid into unemployment insurance but you shouldn't receive it because the labor stats say so. and, believe, me i understand averages much clearer than you........but when someone makes up numbers to best suit their own needs then they make a reality that is false and untrue.

it's nice you still believe you're not being lied too... you wear just a bit too much naivety on your sleeve.

Explain how the govt is lying by saying folks like discouraged do not exist? Are you just too dull to understand the government statistics, or are you deliberately ignoring everything that does not agree with your viewpoint? And the same question to tobee, who also thinks the BLS stats are "bogus". Why do you think this,

because........the BLS is just another fascist bureaucracy agency run by a corrupt government that makes up stats to justify their own existence...is that liberal enough for you???

As far as the UI extensions are concerned, the Republicans are the ones that want to stop any further extensions. Don't expect this lame duck session to bale anyone out. And when the tea party extremists are in Congress next year, you all better get larger trash bags for collecting those cans and bottles. Where is dallasfw? He could explain to you how unemployment benefits are nothing but welfare, and you should really just get a job... Survival of the fitess you know, Ayn Rand forever... End Social Security too he said - your "family" can take care of you when you are old, just like like in the good ol' days (when living to 65 was considered near end of life.)

Explain how the govt is lying by saying folks like discouraged do not exist? Are you just too dull to understand the government statistics, or are you deliberately ignoring everything that does not agree with your viewpoint? And the same question to tobee, who also thinks the BLS stats are "bogus". Why do you think this, when it is clear the BLS includes everyone capable of working in their UI definitions? Perhaps if you spent more time researching how the UI numbers are collected and analyzed, and less time posting on this board, your comments would be more credible.

The U-6 number includes all these persons, as defined below. Explain to me how discouraged is missing from the U-6 number unemployed, as defined by the BLS below:

NOTE: U-6 Total unemployed, plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force, plus total employed part time for economic reasons, as a percent of the civilian labor force plus all persons marginally attached to the labor force.
    NOTE:
Persons marginally attached to the labor force are those who currently are neither working nor looking for work but indicate that they want and are available for a job and have looked for work sometime in the past 12 months. Discouraged workers, a subset of the marginally attached, have given a job-market related reason for not currently looking for work. Persons employed part time for economic reasons are those who want and are available for full-time work but have had to settle for a part-time schedule.
Updated population controls are introduced annually with the release of January data.

ahhhhhhh...what an absolute RELIEF you post is banca!! (which you had time to be on more! )

i so agree, we are being lied to...in this state alone, unemployment is up to over 12% now...

we, as Americans, ( and i am MOST proud to be an American), but we are passive, if this situation happened in other countries people would take to the streets....there would be a revolution...(and NOT The tea party kind)....

these upcoming holidays, unless congress gets in there and makes some emergency reprieve on the UI will be indeed, sad for many.

Gosh, I'm 57, have been working since I was 16 and this is the first time I have ever applied for/been on unemployment.

What's left for me, and others like me as , due to our age, no one is breaking down my doors to hire me. I have 5 yrs before I can apply for social security, but, with no income, even that seems too far away.

If enough people do it, either we'll get the jobs that we rightfully, with our knowledge, should have or they can figure out how we are supposed to survive this. Stopping our unemployment benefits because our age is causing our unemployment is NOT the answer.
discourage...guess i'm going to have to get the guest room ready for YOU...(after my parents leave)...{{{{{{{{D}}}}}}}} i so understand where your coming from. and you, of all sweet souls...i just HATE them. i'm much meaner than you...so i ***** louder.

but the bottom line is you hit the nail on the head...what ARE we going to do...we are the same age...just tossed out like garbage...

what a nice christmas present we are getting.....STOP UI...that will line our streets with homeless and hungry people...that helps??? who??

i right here with you discouraged!!!

Very sorry about your situation discouraged. I have been there before though much younger, not at 57.

Your situation is why I am posting the way I do. The sleeping giant American people won't step up and one reason is because we are all being lied to with the phony stats of 9%.

I'm afraid standing on line around the block for more crap especially with the holidays coming will continue until we all end up in your situation. Only then will the sheep wake up.

Until that happens we have to enjoy the "hope and change".

You could right a nice letter to the BLS asking for the names, addresses, and telephone numbers of all the people that found a job this year. That would be a list of around 1 million people. Then, since you have plenty of time on your hands, you could call each one and confirm they found a job and what kind of job it is. Then, you could post on each new finding right here. Just think tobee - that would be another 1 million posts for you on the BK forum. I say - go for it!

And why does this report have anything to do with UI extensions? If 15 million people are out of work and only 1 million have found new jobs this year, I'd say that little fact overrides any weak unemployment report. You would prefer that the UI report always reports only job losses so the UI extensions will continue? That sounds like welfare forever to me. I didn't know you were a flaming liberal.
i WANT to call all those people...and i WANT to find out what type of jobs that got!! and i will, and can, do that with ALL the time i have since i'm twitting my thumbs all day...(i'm using most all my other fingers for typing)...and for SURE with one million more posts i would MOST certainly hold the forums world record spam award..you think?

it does have to do with UI extensions because these figures are bogus...and unlike many states we paid in for years to get our UI insurance. one of us for over 50 years.......so it's NOT you're money or even the governments...it's OURS...i do understand in many states that is NOT the case but it is where WE paid in.

welfare has nothing to do with it, ROFL!!! yeah....you know now i was out there protesting the war back in the 60's but married a Vietnam vet...LOL!! YOU KNOW I AM a LIVING moving BREATHING contradictions of opinion..........and frankly I KNOW how jealous you are of all the jewelery i'm wearing!!

and by the WAY where have you been???? i have SO missed our heated discussions!

Yep I see the light now. I just figured that there are 15 million souls out of work or flipping burgers so at this rate in just under 9 years we will be back to full employment again. This is also assuming that no newbies do anything sneaky like enter the work force.

What I will do is start a movement to remove the "no third term" clause so like FDR we will all be blessed with the "Obama Era" and he will be in long enough to create the needed jobs by 2019.
