I meant to post this a while ago, but I ran into issues around privacy and the document. I have those straightened out.

This is a spreadsheet that I reverse engineered and based on the Region 21 United States Trustee's (UST) "Comparative Analysis" spreadsheet that they use to compare what you put on the Means Test (Official Form B22A) with what "they" think your numbers should be, in a Chapter 7 case. The spreadsheet is not "simple" but for the most part, it functions as designed.

Here are things to know:
  1. FIRST. There are calculations in some cells, and those cells are not protected in the spreadsheet. So be careful! The cells in the spreadsheet that are "quasi-protected" and/or have calculations in them, are either BLACK or some weird shade of green (depends on your monitor). Basically, any of the cells that are WHITE are okay to enter data. I will try to tell you, below, which places auto-calculate! (Call me lazy, but maybe one day, I'll lock the auto-calculated cells, but I also wanted to have the flexibility of changing a calculation.)
  2. Debtor's County of Residence was just used by the Trustee to lookup the IRS Limits for your State and County. It does not affect anything in the spreadsheet or calculations.
  3. Debtor's Family size is used in calculations in the spreadsheet, so this must be your actual "legal" family size -- not household size.
  4. # under 65 years of age is used to calculate the medical allowance
  5. # 65 years of age of older is used to calculate the medical allowance
  6. Number of Vehicles is used to calculate the car allowance. This number should NEVER be over 2 (two) cars!
  7. Mthly Pmt. for Home this should be your mortgage total (with taxes and insurance) or the amount you pay to rent the place where you live
  8. Mthly. Pmt. For Vehicle 1: this is the monthly car payment for vehicle #1, if you have a vehicle payment
  9. Mthly. Pmt. For Vehicle 2: this is the monthly car payment for vehicle #2, if you have a vehicle payment
  10. "Older" Vehicle Allowance if No Payment

Is Vehicle six (6) years old and/or at
    least 75,000 miles.
    Vehicle 1: NO
    Vehicle 2: NO
Note 2: $200.00 per vehicle will only be added if
above is "Yes" and the vehicle is not subject
    to a loan or lease.
Just answer the question as to whether Vehicle 1 or 2 is "owned" and over 6 years old. If so, it adds the $200 allowance. You can't have both a payment AND this allowance... but the spreadsheet doesn't check for that, so make sure you choose one or the other.
  11. On the second "Sheet" ("FIXED VALUES") you do need to change ONE thing although it says "don't touch anything on this sheet unless you know what you are doing"!!! You must change the "Operating Standard" to the one based on your REGION and METO AREA. My sheet doesn't calculate this and I wanted the sheet to not need updating everytime the regions change. (http://www.justice.gov/ust/eo/bapcpa...xp_Stds_NE.htm)
  12. Basically, every area under the "C" column ("Original 22A Stmt.") is where you fill in YOUR numbers as they appeared on Form B22A.
