I was approved for DIL and signed papers and returned the keys last Febuary to the Citimortagage lawyers. I never heard anything back after a month or so i called both Citimortgage and their lawyers and was told everything was ok. They new I had moved out last October and paid off all utilities and winterized. In June I drive by the place looks like a disaster i called the Lawyers to make sure I was not responsible the secratery said they were still waiting on "Courting" and I would hear from them in July. Now it's the middle of July and I recived an outdated letter from the county police department here in Georgia saying I have 3 code violations and was given a date to correct which by the time the letter got to me was already over. I called Citimortgage the guy on the phone said that his records show the house had been opened and they had resecured a couple days ago. I was told my DIL was approved and it was not my responsibilty. Is this normal? I don't want to pay a hudge fine or go to court or worse go to jail like this letter had stated. I havent even had the keys for the last 5 months. Any help on this would be great!!!!

You had to have gotten some paperwork on this. Check your Courthouse records for any Deed transfers. Make sure you have all your communications together. As far as code fines, what would they be? First codes would have had to notify you before any threat of action. Those form letters are made up to scare people. They can't put you in jail for not mowing your grass. They can mow it for you and lien the property for payment or fine. That is all they can do. 'HubIf I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.
