My home loan was not reaffirmed in my BK (discharged 3.5 years ago); I have never been late in the loan's history and am still paying on it with approx years left. What happens when I finally get the loan paid off? Will I actually own the home and the land? I have been wondering about this and have considered contacting Wells Fargo about refinancing or something in order to get everything legit. Anyone been in this boat???

It is my understanding that the loan was discharged but the deed on the property is still in your name. So that means once the loan is paid their is no longer a lein on it and it is yours free and clear. All the same rules apply with the loan whether you reaffirm or not. Staying current is the key, which it appears you have done. So once it's paid off you are bascally free of the lender the mortgage is paid and you own your home. Congrats on being close to the end of the mortgage, with lots of hard work and time, we hope to be there someday too!Filed Chapter 7 June 4 ~ 341 July 20 ~Last day of objections Sept 18~Discharged/Closed Sept 21
