Pay Throughs, how does that work?

My BK discharged in Jan 2010, we included the mortgage of our current residence and we elected to stay in the home. We were never late on that mortgage and remain current. Our mortgage was sent to LBPS for servicing in July, and I understand they are debt collectors among other things. Should I be concerned about this?
Also, is there anyway I can apply for modification or anything that will get a better interest rate when I have a "pay through" mortgage? Am I always bound to Chase/LBPS as long as I "owe" on this house? Help, I don't quite understand what I've done here.
