Remove Myself as Authorized User Affect on Credit Scores?

Currently my credit score is not good. I am an authorized user on a couple of credit cards that are now maxed out. If I have my friend remove me from them, will that improve my score? Being that my score is bad, will removing me improve their score as well?

The credit lines are fairly large > $5000 but totally utilized. Just wondering if not having a potential credit line is a minus too? e.g. if the credit lines get paid down, I'm sure that my score would go up again.

Anyone here have thoughts/experience on this?

What credit do you have on your own, or with a co-applicant?

If you have no credit at all, these authorized user cards are at least reporting something. If you are removed, you run the risk of not having anything to create a credit file. On the other hand, if the cards are maxed out, they may be negatively affecting your credit score.

I have credit cards and loans of my own on my report already. I'm thinking we're probably sinking each other down as neither of us has good credit at the moment. I'm going to have them taken off and hopefully see an increase in score.
