    Hi,
I have a few question for you if you don't mind answering. Did you BK Providian or Wamu? How often did you apply every month or every other month? Did you by any chance overdraft on their checking account?

In the denial letter they mention that they didn't check any credit report just based on their internal record, don't know what that record is. May be I should ask them in the letter but then again I already know. lol!

The only credit card I bk'ed was Citibank, and the only other loan I bk'ed was the overdraft line of credit from my old credit union. I had a providian account that I paid in full from many years back and closed it because the regular interest rate was 27%. I don't even remember what the default interest rate would have been, but either way I would have been screwed if I paid them any interest that high. I've never had any other kind of banking relationship with them.

At the beginning I was applying for them every month or two, and they were I guess just doing soft pulls. By the 4th time, I waited a few months and they did a hard pull and approved me. I am guessing that its best to wait 3 months inbetween applying in order to get approved. Like with the mastercard they sent me, they sent me a pre-approval for the visa. I went online, got declined immediately, checked my credit reports a couple times since and they didn't do a hard pull.

One really cool thing tho, is free fico scores when you logon to your online account access. I believe they are myfico.com scores too. I will post on it later once I try it all out.

Forget about hooters & all the other bk friendly cards, wamu is the best I've encountered so far!
I also got the welcome package from WaMu, with invitation number and all, and then got denied.

I got a pre-approval offer for Wamu Visa, $0 annual fee and 0% APR for one year. I applied online, and it said they were processing my application (no denial or approval message, just that they got my application and were processing it). I checked my credit report and FICO, they did an inquiry on my Trans Union file. My FICO is 618 with them right now, do you think my application will be denied since it wasn't an instant approval? It's just a waiting game I guess to see what the decision is...

By the way, my Trans Union score today was 623 on True Credit as opposed to the 618 FICO. Experian, TC score was 596 and FICO 574; Equifax TC 594 and FICO 614. I was surprised that aside from the Experian score, the TU one was very close, and the Equifax was actually higher. All of these are same day scores.

I noticed that on the Experian credit report gotten on the myFICO site, for every one of my CC's that were incuded in my BK, they are notating a 90+ day late in the month I filed, which is not true. But, when I look at my report on the True Credit and Experian dispute site, there are no late payments showing. Is this just a unique thing to myFICO, or should I be concerned that it is reported wrong? I disputed all of this stuff long ago and it seemed to be corrected. On the Experian dispute site, it lists my negative accounts and specifically says, "included in bankruptcy/never late". Why would myFICO show 90+ day lates?? Maybe I need to call Experian and ask??

I was just wondering if when those of you who got approved for the Wamu card it was an instant online approval or if you later got something in the mail?

I called Experian about the late payments showing up on the myFico report but not on True Credit, and they said there were no late payments in their records. So, I cleared that one up for myself ;)

              Sorry to confuse anyone!

I got mine through an instant online approval. If you given a further processing type message, more often than not you will not be approved. Try re-applying in another 3 months.

I actually think I may get the card... I just got a call similar to when I applied for Capital One a few months ago to verify the phone number was indeed mine that was listed on the application, and my household income. When I got this call for Capital One I wound up getting the card shortly after in the mail with a $1,000 credit limit, which has since been raised to $1,500. Hopefully this was a good sign! I don't even want the card to use, but just to improve my credit score. I'll let everyone know what happens...

That's exactly how I got my Capital One Card...I was so used to the "You'll get a response in 7-10 days" always coming back with a denial...then was totally shocked when Capital One approved me.

I thought it was maybe because I recently had an address and phone number change, and maybe it was an identity verification issue? In any case I was happy to get that call yesterday, I thought for sure once it said further processing was needed that I'd be turned down!

I am becoming so much more hopeful at this point with the whole bankruptcy, I can definitely see a vast improvement in my credit! I was afraid I'd never feel "normal" about applying for credit again!

                        I got approved!

Wanted to let you all know I was approved for the Wamu Platinum Visa card, just got a letter today in the mail. I got a $2500 limit, 0% apr on balance transfers and 9.99% on purchases, a better rate than what I had on my credit cards before the bankruptcy! I am so happy! No annual fee, either.

Yes, I meant to say almost exclusively TU.

Now we have a few cards all under $500 limit, and they are running balances. We have been paying on time and have been VERY good. Hubby's scores are low 628 still. We know we still have to work on our credit. We are 1 year post BK.
OK today in the mail.....hubby just gets the ESPN Visa application thru Washington Mutual in the mail, it said he was pre- approved and we can either send it in or apply online, so we opted for online. What the heck right....it says 0 fee and 0% until march 2008, then at 13% ...still better then some cards, we looked over the fine print, and it says credit line up to $30,000 or at least $500....oh well we tried anyways.

So we entered the info and wait for a reply...then the big congratulations page comes up....it said
"You have been approved for the ESPN Total Access Visa card with a credit limit of $30,000. Your card should arrive in 7-10 business days"
LOL we laughed so hard my hubby nearly fell off his chair..there is NO WAY they are giving us a limit of that...LOL ARE THEY CRAZY?? I'm sure they have it wrong. They must have made a mistake. We got the welcome email, saying that we should register online, once we get the card....if it is accurate that card is NEVER leaving home!!!!!!!!!
                                I will keep you posted.
