Some Of My Accounts Were Deleted?

A very strange thing happen when I attempted to dispute a number of my credit card accounts through Transunion. I notified them in writing that a number of my accounts needed a few minor corrections. The request were for making the accounts to read 0 balance rather having a blank in the balance column and making sure it said included in bankruptcy rather than the phrase chapter 7 bankruptcy and things like that. I get a letter the other day in the mail with the results of the investigation. They went ahead and deleted six of the eight accounts I was requesting corrections. I never ask them to delete any accounts. All those accounts were included in my bankruptcy. I realize those accounts were derogatory. I guess my question is should I write to them and ask them why they deleted those accounts or do nothing at all and why would they delete them in the first place? Also, I noticed that Equifax must of been notified by Transunion as well as one of the six accounts that Transunion deleted even though we did not dispute with them with Equifax they were deleted with them as well. We checked our Equifax report today and finding out that they put back the deleted account back on, but now it list the same account three times. Now I have to dispute with Equifax to remove the two additional accounts with the same creditor.

Personally, I think it's a good thing for you that the accts were deleted. Think of it as negatives that are no longer reporting.

We had the same thing happen. Dispute to get accts IIB with Zero balance and they fall off. As if they were never there.

I think what happens is,......... When we dispute, and the Creditor does not validate or update within the 30 days of the active dispute, then TU, or whatever CRA, drops the accts off our reports.

The very same thing happens to me with TU - I got my BK & my foreclosure off my report - and they didn't wait 30 days - it was done in 72 hours. I didn't ask for deletion, only for correct and accurate reporting - but poof - they deleted!

Who am I to argue? LOL

I'm gonna have a really clean TU report - but the rest will still suck! LOL

If any credit reporting agency deletes off derogatory information, that is a GOOD thing! Let it go, and move on to the other negative items on your report.

Repeat, this is a GOOD thing! Your FICO score will go up!

I have kind of a similar question. I had 8 student loans with Citibank in which 6 were sold back to the guarantor. When I ran my credit report all 8 of these are showing included in bankruptcy. There was no hardship and my other loans do not show this. What is the deal and do I need to pay these. Also the balance is showing zero
