Well I just went on a short application spree..

I was discharged from Chapter 7 Bankruptcy on November 27,2006 and Closed on December 15,2006. I was in the process of disputing alot of incorrects on my credit reports and waiting for the results. It's hard to say why I went on an application spree now and did not wait for my scores to get better.Anyways I did get Orchard for $300 (big suprise there) with a $69 Annual Fee(don't like that) and 0% APR for the first 9 mos. They also offered me a Household Bank card with a $59 Annual Fee and an APR to match your credit.Which probably would have been high.I did not take that one because I didn't want two cards with that high a annual fee, though for my credit that's probably a good deal.I also applied for Target and Walmart but the jury is still out on those applications. My Fico Scores for Equifax is 601 and TransUnion is 530.I beleive Experian is closer to my Transunion score than my Equifax score.
I know I should have waited until I got my credit reports fixed but I figure I can try again in October.By then around six 60 days lates will have dropped off my credit reports. That should help my score along with having my Orchard credit card to PIF every month.
I just wanted to let everyone know how I did a month past my discharge for Chapter 7 BK.

Good work. I recommend fixing your reports asap, and going on application sprees only once every 3 months.

Thanks FilingOnMyOwn.I already have my disputes in with the 3 credit reporting agencies.I'm kind of anxious to see how it turns out.So I'm done with applying for now.I'll wait until my lates drop off (end of October) then I'll try again.

Hi saucey,Yes I'll let you know how my other app's turn out.I also applied for Crown Jewelers and Zales.Hopefully I'll hear soon what the outcome is for those too.
I really had not planned on a application spree so soon but I guess I must have been bored or something last night. It would have made more sense for me to waite for my disputes to come back first.
Oh well what's done is done.

You'll get Crown Jewelers, they'll give anyone who is still breathing an account! LOL!

Hi Saucey,Just an update.I was denied every other card I applied for except Orchard.Which is what I figured since I just started disputing stuff on my credit reports.Hopefully by spring they'll all be cleaned up and I'll be able to reapply to some of these places and get approved.

Donna - you didn't get denied by CJ did you? If so, this will be the very first I ever heard of CJ not approving an account.

FWIW, when I was first discharged I was getting a lot of DEEP subprime card offers - all of which went into the garbage. However, now I am starting to get better offers - still by sub prime lender's, but with lower interest 12-15% vs 25-30% and also I'm starting to get pre-approved (which means nothing LOL) offers with ZERO annual fee.

We both have Orchard now, with decent limits too (I was very surprised by that - but didn't apply till almost 1 year post discharge) and we also got WAMU.

I haven't used them yet because I'm scared of carrying a balance.

Oh yes BK'd Betty I did get CJ.(phew, still breathing)Sorry did not even think about it.I am going to place an order tommorrow. Can't wait till they start reporting.
Yeah I'm kinda scared to use my Orchard Card too.It came in the mail yesterday and I haven't even activated it yet.I want to get that $69 annual fee paid off before I charge anything else on it.I'm really scared of credit now.I just got out of a hole and don't want to dig myself another one.Filing Bk once is enough for me.
                    Thanks for asking.

Do not go on a application spree once every 3 months. Credit inquires can tank your credit score just as easy as derogatory credit.
