    Chase's Dirty Tricks....

So I was approved for the Chase Circuit City Visa shortly after being discharged, with a limit of $5000. I never used the card, until they sent me a 0% apr offer with a convenience check. So I wrote the check out for $4,925 and deposited it into a higher interest bearing account, leaving $75 for the check fee. This maxed my limit of $5,000 exactly.

Then, on my statement, they charged me an overlimit fee of $35. I called and explained that my credit limit was never exceeded. I had to speak with about 3 different supervisors before they agreed to remove the charge.

Then, today I get in the mail a notice that they have increased my credit line to $5,700. I'm like, oh really? So I go online and check my account. Not only was the credit line not actually increased, but they charged me interest finance charges on the 0% apr offer.

I spoke with a supervisor, once again, who removed the finance charges, but told me that the automatic credit line increase letter was simply an error, and that my account that I've held for 6 months now in fact had no credit line increase. I accused them of sending that to people as a "ruse" to try and get people to unknowingly exceed their credit lines and incur additional fees and higher interest rates.

Funny thing is, the supervisor didn't deny any of what I suggested.

I NO LONGER RECOMMEND ANYONE TRY AND USE THE CHASE CIRCUIT CITY CARD TO REBUILD THEIR CREDIT. ITS A SCAM AND NOONE COMING OUT OF BK SHOULD BE SUBJECT TO SUCH NONSENSE.

Don't be surprised if you get rate jacked too! I bet when you check your next statement, they will have rate jacked you to 30% because you maxed out the card.

I don't mean on the promo rate, I mean the regular rate.

If that happens, the card will be paid in full and closed so quickly it will make their head spin.

I hate Chase. They raised my interest raate from 9% to 30% before I filed bankruptcy. I had not made any late payments to them or anyone else at that time and was trying to get back on my feet instead of filing bankruptcy. They said that they checked my credit and noticed that I had a lot of debt, so they raised my interst rate. How nice of them. I will never do business with Chase again.

It was actually JP Morgan/Chase and Bank One that merged, making them the worlds 4th largest bank. I doubt the goverment would ever approve any larger mergers with citigroup, boa, or hsbc, since it would end up forming the single largest company in the world. The government even tried to break up microsoft years ago for getting too big.

I'm the same way with Citi. But once everyone's story is told, the majority of banks have some really shady ways of trying to make money. Its just a matter of necessity to use them to build credit, when your scores are low and noone else will lend to you.

The first credit card I ever had was a capital one, with a $200 limit, and now I have one with a $500 limit. I never had any problems with them whatsoever. Problem is, you can't even buy a plane ticket and rent a car with a $500 limit card, its practically useless.
