    Target denied / no landline

I was wondering if any of you out there applying for a Target card have the problem that I had. I applied online, was told that I'd have to wait for a response by mail, and got a denial letter listing the following two reasons:

    * Unable to verify your home telephone number.
    * The phone number provided is listed as a mobile number.

The consumer reporting agency listed as providing the data is RiskWise, LLC.

I don't have a landline phone - just a cell on a family plan with my sister and my parents. The bill is in my sister's name.

Is there absolutely no way that I can get a Target card without a landline home phone number in my name?

They can set whatever criteria they want I suppose...in today's day and age, it is bit lame to require a land line, but if that is the reason they are going to cite, there is not a whole lot you can do about it.

You could try calling them and see if you can work it out.

I second that - try calling. Assuming your credit worthiness is okay, you'll need to ask for recon on this...they want to 'know' that an applicant has some roots, so to speak...for all they know we could be living out of our car and using a disposable cell phone.
