Wild Variations in my FICO score

I just pulled my credit report from the 3 credit bureaus along with the FICO scores.

Transunion shows me at 703 (I'm in a Chapter 13 bankruptcy) and has so many mistakes on my report in my favor it is rediculous. It shows me only BK on 1 credit card and all the others are showing Paid.

Experien comes in at 623 and Equifax comes in at 594.

I would say Experien and Equifax are all close to being dead nuts on. Equifax is missing a few of my very old accounts, but overall, the report is accurate.

Does anybody else have this big of spread in there 3 credit reports. I actually received an offer for a no fee credit card (discovered they had pulled my report from Transunion). I know your not suppose to have credit cards in a Chapter 13, but am tempted to take advantage of this mistake and start building credit. Any thoughts?

Yeah thats pretty common for the scores to be different among the bureaus, and 100+ points is not that extreme given the reports are all holding different information. Many of us luck out and get one good credit report that you hope they pull when you apply for credit. Sounds like Transunion is yours.

I usually don't comment on chapter 13, as thats not what I filed and I have little knowledge of it. But I can tell you, I know someone who filed chapter 13 and obtained new cards shortly after he filed. He talked to his attorney, who told him that as long as he kept the limits & balances under $1,500, that it should be okay. I'm not sure what the significance of the 1,500 was, whether it be his monthly income or something to do with the state laws or courts. Either way, it worked out for him to have a couple starter cards without trouble.

I'm assuming you filed with an attorney, so you can always ask him/her first about the matter.

The 1500 might have to do with what a trustee can approve. The trustee in my area can approve someone getting up to $1500 in credit. Anything above that requires judge approval.

FOMO, you have built up alot of credit already post bankruptcy.....all fee free. I see some of them, especially Salute and Tribute that I have received offers in the mail from that want to charge an arm and leg for 300 dollars credit limit. Am curious if you called them to cancel them and they waived the fees?

I really don't want to have that much available credit as I don't think I can, at this point anyway, trust myself with those limits.

Thats a good question. After I tore up about 20 applications for the ripoff aspire cards, thats when they sent me the offers for the fee free tribute and salute cards. They do have higher % rates, but I dont' carry balances on them.

And not all of my post bk credit was fee free. I had to start out with household and orchard cards with $59 fees each for $300 limits. Once you break the ice and get started you can build momentum rather quickly, as long as you are responsible.
