    Experian credit report

I checked my credit report on Experian and was shocked to see my brother's credit cards there. It shows "also knows as <brother's name>. I don't know how they got it mixed up. Maybe because we both share the same first and last name, only the middle name is different.

I tried to call the number on Experian website but they were not for disputing the credit report. They gave me another number but that is useless too as it's all recorded stuff. Does anyone have a direct number to dispute items on a credit report? Thanks in advance.

you can dispute it online but since it was reported this way you will need to show proof it is not yours which means making copies of the proof and mailing it in which I would do with all three cr's

I tried to do it online but it says to contact them at the number listed on the contact us page. That's the number I called, it didn't help much either with another number they person has given me. I called at least 5 times, they couldn't help me any further.

I thought once you send it to 1, the other 2 bureaus share the same info?

You'll need to get this corrected by writing the CRA's.

We just went thru a SSN mix up with Sallie Mae. You're gonna have to document who you are in order to get this fixed.

You'll probably want to include a copy of your Driver's License for photo ID purposes. A copy of your SSN card and/or a letter of Verification that your SSN belongs to your name from the Soc Sec Office. And a recent pay stub or last year's W-2 Statement showing your name and address and your SSN.

That letter from the Soc Sec office,.......... They stamp it with a seal. Don't send that original sealed statement to the Credit Reporting Agencies. The lady at the Soc Sec Office told us that "sealed" letter is the same as your SSN card. If you hand that out, it's like giving someone your SSN card.
