can a name change get you new credit?

just got my name changed. i know social security number is the same.blah blah, but can i do anything about getting a new credit with a new name? like a change in identity. I was planning on opening a brand new bank account, and apply for a credit card with the new name. i need a new start....

Hey TradeWiz...Your credit scores 18 months after discharge is impressive.

How many past dues and other negative items did you have before you filed? I am guessing that you did not have many, or maybe even any past dues.

Any info you can provide would be helpful to us.....
