    Removing a Balance

Equifax continues to report balances after disputing. Can anyone tell me if I have to wait until after the discharge before I can get the balances removed or basicly, do I have to be dischared before they (CRA) are required to remove them ?

I'm not sure. I *think* you have to wait to be discharged before the balance should show as $0. After discharge, they should report as a $0 balance and IIB. ("Included In Bankruptcy.")

I'm waiting until after my discharge to start disputing.

Even though the comment "included in bankruptcy" should be the ONLY comment left once the debt is discharged, CRA's have a habit NOT to delete any historical (prior to discharge) information from your credit history. Fair? No!

By law the balance can be reported until the discharge is granted. If it shows after that, then you can dispute it.

Yep! Which is why I am waiting for my discharge before I start disputing items.
