Why isn't DCU an option for you? I just started using them within the last several months and I'm very pleased.
I'm way across the country from DCU and figured I'd need to do everything through the mail and I decided it wasn't a problem for the few times it would happen. Well, it seems that there's a Credit Union cooperative that allows me to go to several CU's here and do transactions in person as if I had been at DCU! I haven't needed to do that yet, but it sounds perfect for the times I do.Discharged November 2008 100 days after filing no-asset Chapter 7. We intended to let a two-year-old vehicle go back to the bank and reaffirm an inexpensive ten-year-old SUV and our home mortgage. In the end we surrendered ALL of our vehicles and reaffirmed NOTHING. We'll "ride through" our mortgage after the court ruled it an undue hardship.

Are you just looking for a bank account? Or someplace to get a CC?
What I did to find a new credit union was call a few local CU and asked if bankruptcy would be a problem. I was told that they check through chexsystems and not the 3 major credit bureaus. As far as getting a CC through them, though, they do in fact check the 3 big ones.

Correct that you have to join first. Most CU's require that. Affiliation is easy just follow the link to join NSA (National Sheriffs Assn) and after you are a member of that org, you can join NFCU. They gave me a 15K CL on my CC and 2 months later did a low interest personal loan for 10K. They are great.Originally posted by cap350z View PostFYI about JFCU,
You have to join first. And you have to have an affiliation with the law or the government or have relatives who work for the government or law enforcement.
I tried to apply for a loan and I had to be a member first. I have no relatives that work for the government.

I love JFCU Justice Federal Credit Union they gave me a checking account when no one would. They don't us chexsystems but they do pull EQ for ID verification only. As floorman said if you join the NSA (National Sheriffs Assn) you can join JFCU membership cost between $35.00 and $20.00 well worth the investment. I did not us NSA as my In at JFCU I am able to join through my employer. They have great rates on loans and credit cards. If you have any questions please ask. Just to add they are also a part of Shared Branch which means You and your family can now access your Justice FCU accounts for FREE at over 2,700 shared branches nationwide! Credit unions have joined together to create Shared Service Center* branches around the country. Shared Service Center branches, allow you to conduct most of your business as if you were in a Justice FCU branch.Last edited by SCORPIO07; 01-30-2008, 10:56 PM.
