    'Public Records' on credit report??

I got a credit alert this morning for my wife and when I checked in to it, it is a new entry in the Public Record section of the Experian report.

    It says:

    Date Filed:
    Reporting Court Name: Citi
    Public Record Amount:
    Type of Record: Collections

the date this showed up was 6/18/05. We filed on 9-May and the notices went out that week. I know everyone got notice since the calls stopped, and for that matter so did the statements coming in the mail.

Does this mean that Citibank sold that debt to a collection agency? If so, is it correct for it to be listed in that section?

    thanks

OK - I did a little more research.

I checked on PACER and Citi Platinum Card account was included on the Certificate of Service with the address listed for customer service on the last statement we got from them (5/12).

The certificate of service was also mailed out on 5/12.

Can a card get a judgement against you AFTER you have filed for bankruptcy?

Or is it more likely that the debt is being sold to a collector?

or could it have something to do with the what we owed on some furniture we bought (~$600). That was financed through Citifinancial. Would they have to go through the court to get the furniture back? or would they just call us?

and wouldn't they have to wait until the discharge is granted to get the furniture?

soorry about all the questions. This just seems a little odd.

Collections shouldn't be reported as "public records"

I don't know if its a mistake in the way your credit alert system is reporting it to you, or if Citi made a mistake in the way they reported the entry.

Collection entries are usually only noted as a type of "account status" on individual "Trade" accounts.

OK. That's what I'm thinking too.

I just wanted to make sure it is not a judgement of some type. I would think we would have gotten something in the mail if that had happened. We haven't moved.:
