My wife and I were discharged yesterday.
I signed up for CreditKeeper.com so that I could look at all three reports at the same time. I thought this would be a good place to start when cleaning the reports up.
Out of all our accounts (lots of them!), only a few are reporting incorrectly (late, no mention of bankruptcy, etc.).
But what really hit me was the fako scores. I realize they are not as accurate as the real FICO scores, but again, I signed up for it to use it as a tool to clean up inaccuracies (plus it is free for the first month).
So here they are:
Me: Experian 510, Equifax 495, TU 486
My Wife: Experian 534, Equifax 522, TU 519
We were both 670 - 680 before filing.
Oh yeah, one more thing: As expected, the TU reports have the most inaccuracies.
PLEASE NOTE: I am not a lawyer. Bankruptcy may or may not be a best scenario for you. It depends on your situation. You may assume my advice is totally useless (my wife does, and she’s probably right). Talk to an experienced bankruptcy attorney (or three) in your jurisdiction for legal advice.
