    Update on post-discharge FICO climb

I previously reported that my pre-filing BK fico with Equifax was 473.

    - After filing BK in March 2005, fico remained at 473.
    - April 2005, fico increased to 486
    - May 2005, fico increased to 500
    - June 2005, fico increased to 506 - received discharge last week in June
    - July 2005, fico increased to 528

I've pulled all three credit reports and there is a lot of work to be done. I'm just pleased to see an increase in the score (even though it is a very low score) and many creditors still do not reflect BK at all.

Just trudging along without any creditor harassment and wanted to share the progress! Feels great!

Glad to see it working out. I think once the discharge works it way through the system, things will get even better.

Start sending the dispute letters regarding the creditors that have not updated their accounts to reflect "included in Bankruptcy" etc.

      first thing to do...

The scores would have actually been higher. When the petition was first filed and it hit your report u order the report and look over the inaccuracies, then do the disputing making those balances zero makes the score go higher, then once the petition is discharged by another one and make sure it says discharged u will be more than pleased

        Equifax score up +82 points!

I'm so happy to see that my work is finally paying off. I've been disputing inaccurate statements on my credit reports and now my Equifax score has jumped another 82 points! It's up to 606. I still have a couple of inacurrate listings on the report and I've sent a second dispute letter. I'm hoping my score will be above 620 by the first part of next year. Our hope is to get a mortgage in March 2006 on the house we've been leasing. I had little doubt we'd be successful back when the score was 473 - 500 but now I'm getting more optimistic.

I haven't purchased my scores for the other two reporting agencies yet but have been working on cleaning up those reports. Oh yeah, I was also successful in having Experian remove a re-aged charge-off account that we didn't include in Bankruptcy!!

        There is life after Bankruptcy.

          Excellent

The magic number is 660, above that score and you are in the prime lending category.

Also, realize that each credit agency scores your credit a little differently. So a 602 score from equifax is not the same as a 602 score at experian or transunion.

Got to www.myfico.com to learn more about the scoring if your interested.

These are the stories I like to see, because its so hard to convince people BEFORE they file BK that their credit will not be ruined for the next 10 years.
