What Cali says is absolutely true.
However... sometimes when you dispute things, the company does not respond or perhaps responds incorrectly and you may have it taken off anyway.
That happened with me. A personal loan I had was charged off the month before I filed.
I disputed the "Charge Off" designation with all 3 credit bureaus, and guess what? Now there is NO Listing at all of that creditor on my report! A negative was completely ERASED.
So I think it pays to dispute, dispute, dispute! Just like the old saying, even if you get caught in bed with someone, Deny, Deny, Deny!
