If an account was charged off BEFORE filing BK...

What should I be requesting it say on the credit report? Will the BK discharge erase the charge off/ deliquencies?

    Sorry for the silly question.

If the account was charged off before filing, it stays charged off. And it stays on your report for 7 years.

The balance should be zero though.

What Cali says is absolutely true.
However... sometimes when you dispute things, the company does not respond or perhaps responds incorrectly and you may have it taken off anyway.
That happened with me. A personal loan I had was charged off the month before I filed.
I disputed the "Charge Off" designation with all 3 credit bureaus, and guess what? Now there is NO Listing at all of that creditor on my report! A negative was completely ERASED.
So I think it pays to dispute, dispute, dispute! Just like the old saying, even if you get caught in bed with someone, Deny, Deny, Deny!
