WaMu offer in the mail....but, isn't it Chase?

Okay, so I've been waiting for it and it finally came. A Wamu offer!! It's o% until '10. I would love to transfer a few balances.

BUT, isn't Wamu now Chase? I included 2 Chase accounts in my filing.

So....will I be approved now or not? The offer clearly states WaMu.

Should I try it or not?

The Wamu offer was probably sent out a few days before the official takeover by Chase. If you respond to the offer now you probably will be turned down.

I just got an offer today in the mail from WAMU and it was the best offer I have seen so I decided to go online and apply. 30 Seconds later and I got approved for $500.00, no annual fee + free FICO Scores. Perfect for what I need since I'm currently in the process of fixing and rebuilding my Credit.

The site said the card is in the mail and I will have it in a few days. I was really surprised I got it considering what is going on with the economy.

If you still have the offer I would say go for it if you need it.

Edit: I also had 2 Chase Cards included in my Chapter 7.

Wamu's and Chase's computer(cyber) worlds are probably not integrated yet.

My husband and I each got a Wamu offer. Both were declined.

I guess I got lucky then. I really did not think I would get it.

I got approved for the WaMu card and its great because you can see your FICO score. I am sure it won't switch over to Chase until next year. I just hope it stays the same with the free FICO and no annual free etc. I also had Chase on my Chapter 7 although I doubt they will close my account because of it.
You will never know if you will get approved until you apply. So go for it.

You hope. Chase and Wamu have not yet integrated their computer/cyberworld systems. Once they do and Chase realizes that you have a Wamu card they will probably cancel your card. Their "logic", you burned us before, you won't burn us again.

Not to rain on your parade; acutally NO. I WILL rain your parade out of existence. If you have the money in cash NOW to buy your toy, do so. If you do NOT, then don't. One of the things that got you, me, 'Hub, and many others is buying things now on tomorrow's income. Well, our income is toastie flakes, but our outgo remains the same.

What's going to give? If you have filed BK, or are contemplating same, know that once discharged, you cannot file again for 8 years in a 7. I don't know about 13.

But why don't you learn NOW to discipline yourself and make yourself live on a 'cash only' basis? Search this board, and you will see other members say how LIBERATING 'cash only' is.

                        Let's see...

Someday, I would like to buy another car.....Someday, I would like to buy another house....In order to re-establish credit, I will need a credit card to prove myself.

Do I WANT credit? No, but the fact of the matter is that I need to re-establish myself if I ever want to do anything concerning a house or a car ever again.

A little while back, we had an emergency and I had to max out all of my new cards. So, I was excited to see a balance transfer offer with 0% from WaMu.

I'm not disappointed or upset that I didn't get a credit card from WaMu...Sheesh! I still have my budget to pay off the cards that I had to max out and they will be paid off by December.

I'm sorry, but I thought I posted in the "rebuildng credit" section of this forum.

Don't worry I fully understand what is going on. I only want to start rebuilding my Credit because Credit pretty much rules everyone's lives. You are eventually going to need credit some time in the future...a new house...new car...home improvements..etc..etc.

I have learned from my mistakes and my current credit card will only be used to buy things when I have the cash for it, no large purchases and will never be making the minimum payments. Will either pay in full or pay over the minimum.

This is the rebuilding Credit Area and right now that is what I'm looking to do.

I fully agree with some of the statements above. After bankruptcy we need to rebuild credit. Having excellent credit will save thousands of dollars for the large purchases such as homes. For me I am in my first home I have ever purchased. I have never refinanced it, been late on any payments and my family is outgrowing our home. So, some of us really need to consider building our credit. As pathetic as it is.. we need good credit. Now, if you getting Best Buy Credit Cards, Circuit City Credit cards or other Merchant cards.. Then you really need to consider whether the purchase should be made with cash rather than credit.
