    Help

I am so confused, but first the good news I got approved for a sub prime all access visa (iguess that it is a start). Now having said that I have two charge offs that I need to get rid of, and I want to know if disputing them or sending a debt verification letter is in order. I included each of these items in my bk also. I am 1month and a half out of bankruptcy and I cannot even get a target redcard I need some advice really bad...

why do you want to get more credit so soon. It is amazing what happens when you live on cash:

you may be able to get a secured credit card for those times you need it. But debit cards that have visa logos work nearly everywhere now.

If the charge-offs happened prior to the BK, you probably can't get them removed completely. You would not send a DV letter...but you can always dispute the entries with the credit reporting agencies. Doing a dispute would be your first move.

Don't worry about getting credit. That will come with time. The most important factors in repairing credit after BK are (1) time, and (2), making sure everything on your credit report is being reported accurately. Within 6 months, creditors will probably start sending you offers.

But keep in mind...the more you apply for credit before your credit is ready, the more harm you are doing to your credit.

thanx hhm I will stop now until my credit has matured so to speak, any other advice you can give me, I want to know about how long after the cra's investigate and correct items on my credit report should I check my scores.

I do believe the CRA's have 30 days to resolve/answer any disputes. When they have done their investigating, they will send a letter stating what corrections were made, if any and a fresh copy of your CR. If you want your scores, you'll have to get those yourself.

Sutton, please, what got you and I here? What is wrong with a small emergency savings? You are not that weak to raid it for 'crap' things. Let it go. See how free you will feel not selling your soul to a creditor. ONLY MY OPINION. 'Hub
If I knew it all, would I be here?? Hang in there = Retained attorney 8-06, Filed 12-28-07, Discharge 8-13-08, Finally CLOSED 11-3-09, 3-31-10 AP Dismissed, Informed by incompetent lawyer of CLOSED status, October 14, 2010.

I agree with the above. Get your credit cleaned up the offers will come and then be careful. You said you need a credit card in case of emergency. Target red card wont help with that, and besides, I was almost 10 months out before I could get approved by them. Start with a secured, Orchard, or put the money that you "think" you can afford for cc payments in the bank. you will be surprised how quick it will add up.

appreciate the advice and opinions, but the fact is that i do want to reestablish credit and yes I do have an emergency savings and I also have two kids that I provide for and I do not believe that being able to get to my only sibling in her time of need would be a CRAP thing...
