    Charge-off on credit reports

    Discharged: 12/23/2008

What little I know is, if the account holder did a charge-off before your BK you can not get it removed. If it was included in your BK and they listed it as charge-off then dispute it.

Others with more knowledge will chime in.

Okay, thanks for the information. Just curious what are the negative affects having a "charge-off" on my credit report? I plan on purchasing a home in about 3 years will that hinder my chances of getting a very small home loan in 3 years?

Also, is that the reason too I haven't been getting any credit card offers in the mail? I been discharged for about 7 months now and the only credit card offers I got was from Orchard Bank.. Thanks in advance..

We were looking to buy a house and use my fiancees income on the loan. The bank that has my current house loan said that my fiancee needs to be 2yrs out of BK for most leanders to add her to the loan. They said there are some that could do it earlier but you would be paying more fees and % rates.

She has some charge-offs listed on her account and got a credit card about two months out. Check your score though because hers were all above 600.

Yeah, I won't be ready in about 3 years for a house but the loan amount is small cause im going to assume my parents home loan.. The house even in this bad economy is worth 400k thats the lowest and loan amount is at 110k.. I should be okay (hopefully) when I'm ready to assume the loan.. and plus my job is stable right now with the economy being bad since I work for a clinicial research company.. so just been saving money and now I want to build my credit up.. so thats why I was curious about those "charge-offs" on the report..

Should I try apply for credit card and see how it goes? I mean I haven't applied for any type of credit for the last year.. I mean I don't want to rack up tons of inquires on my credit either.. thanks

I would try Capitol one. That is who my fiancee has her card through. She has a $39 annual fee but has already moved her limit from $400 to $1200 since April.

              Hi RK,

Thanks for all your information.. just curious though did your fiancee apply online or did she get a pre-approval mailed to her?

I was curious too should I go into my bank (Union Bank of California) and try applying for a credit card there because I have a friend that works at the bank.. Thanks in advance

If I remember right she got an offer in the mail but we went online and did the process there.

Applied for a Captial One card and got approved .. only a $29 annual fee and reward points come along with it!! Time to rebuild! But how long should I wait until I call them and ask them to knock off that annual fee?
