Same here and it was very annoying, especially when I had to say "no" three times to each offer.
During the activation call, did the representative explain their credit steps program to you? I hadn't heard of it until I activated the card. I guess if you make your payments on time and don't go over your limit for three months they will increase your CL on your fourth statement. I don't need an increased limit as I don't plan on using the card but the increase should help raise the credit score.
No but she was definitely new, had a thick accent and could tell I was getting annoyed. I did read about that in the pamphlet that came with my card. You can opt out of it but like you said, it may help your credit so why bother. It's not like before when I considered a credit increase a challenge to max it out
