    score going up??? HOW??

I checked my cr today. Last week I disputed some items. I still haven't gotten my official discharge, but the last day for objections was 11/14/05. Nothing on my cr has changed, but my score from exp. went up 11 points (653) and equ. went up 10 (626). Why did they go up? Also, I have my mortgage/2nd mortgage/cc that are all still showing a BIG balance and it doesn't say anything about bk. ONce these accounts are changed, will my score go up or down? Thanks

    My guess is that...
You showed more available credit (less cc's and payments as some came off)
The Bk was shown on some and replaced late pays???
You can't declare Bk again for a number of years.
IT could go up some more, but it depends on if it's taken the hit from the Bk being finalized.
Anyway, congrats for now, and good luck. Art

Well, my first guess is that my score will go up when these balances go to $0 and IIB. I haven't gotten my official discharge, but I started disputing already. They are still reporting as late payments even though I filed. I will make sure I get all that straightened out ASAP. Some accounts show $0 balance and IIB. It is all MeSsED uP!

CONGRATS!!!! I filed in June 2005, and received my discharge (no official papers yet) in November 2, 2005, my scores have not changed AT ALL!!! I've began disputing them (online), but nothing. Did I do something wrong??? I was hoping that my scores would go up, but so far, it's just not happening. At what point should I begin to really worry? This whole BK thing has been stressful. Any suggestions on what I should do??? Let me know. Thanks in advance!!!

You need to send certified letters to all the creditors you dispute and give them 30 days to correct your credit report.

Usually your credit won't update until you actually receive your discharge. Most creditors wait till after that date to report.

Hey Minny--I like your new picture! I disputed mine online (I had a few hours to kill) I know the "correct, effective" way is certified mail, anyways... Nothing on my cr changed. My scores just went up? I wasn't sure, but I was thinking that since my car note and college loans are being paid on time the last few months that might have made a difference. Keep trying ODDBALL. Perhaps between the 2 scores, accounts reported another month of activity? As time 'ages' the bad stuff, the bad stuff has less impact on the score.

Either that, or maybe a negative that is being disputed does not affect the score while the dispute is in the works?
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.
