Some of us here would like to rebuild our credit scores so that we can buy another house someday or maybe even get a new vehicle. Yes yes, I know, we should all pay cash for our vehicles and live in 10x10 shacks the rest of our lives just because we once made mistakes that put us into a BK.... but come on... seriously... credit is not a bad thing... it's how you handle it that is important...

For me personally, I'm rebuilding now so that my hubby & I can sell our current home and buy another one someday.... without new credit our scores aren't likely to come up to where we need them to be in another year when we're eligible to get a new mortgage loan...
Do you all get this from a talking points paper or something? There must be a lot of democrats on this board with all the anti-free speech talk. Nothing I said is "snide."

I say again.....YOU DO NOT NEED A CREDIT SCORE TO BUY A HOUSE. I mean read the FHA guidelines for crying out loud.

It's funny how you are entitled to your opinion on credit but when I give mine I am snide. I get a there is no way you can possibly survive in life without credit from you but I can't express the opinion that you don't need it.

I know it's hard to imagine but yeah try buying a car you can afford instead of financing something at 12% that loses 20% of it's value a year.

I promise the snide, rude, moronic jerk will refrain from posting my opinion on this thread anymore and I sincerely apologize for offending anyone. Congrats to all on the credit cards.

So let's see you listed all the ways they rip you off and yet you are clamoring for one. My bad, good luck getting one of those lovely things. It's quite obvious to me that way too many people think you cannot be a success financially without a precious credit card.

"Just because someone has a credit card doesn't mean they are gonna get into trouble" ----- famous last words.

Sometimes I think I clicked on the credit card lovers forum instead of the BKForum. There is no way that there are this many people that learned absolutely nothing from filing BK.

I agree with you that focusing too much on obtaining credit post bk is not ideal. I just want to buy my little house in two years.
I hear ya bro, I totally understand about wanting a house. I know you will get it!

How in the world do you consider what I did bashing anyone? So now stating my opinion about credit cards and saying that you are better off is bashing you? Wow.

OK then, good luck on the two you have because you are going to need it. Just remember this thread when if one little thing goes wrong they rate jack you to 30%.

I am not mad at you for having one, I am just trying to get people to think about what they are doing.

Hey give me some credit, I did say that if you MUST have one at least make it a secured one. I just cringe when I see people actually get upset because they didn't get a credit card. I just don't get it. Either people didn't go through what I went through with those people or they just don't care about their finances.

Just because someone has a credit card doesn't mean they are gonna get into trouble again or go crazy with their finances... sure it happens, but not EVERYONE will go nuts with credit.

Reasons I can think for not having a credit card are the crazy interest rates right now, the unwillingness for banks to work with you right now, limit decreases...

But its not really a good response to me being upset I got denied and saying yay you won't be a slave again... because I don't feel that way. If you do, that's fabulous, but I don't.

Hey Amy26, I got the same message from them but I tried like 2 weeks and was told my application is under review. I'll have a response within 7-10 days. Before, I was flat out told NO, I have a delinquency with them. So just try again in a month or so.

Well a secured card is just that, the card is secured by your deposit. Therefore, as long as you have the secured card the deposit will be held with that bank. I guess if you must have one at least make it secured that way you can't run into any problems. I personally am not interested in any of them.
