BofA will do a secure card one year after your discharge, a coworker has one.

Add me to the "Denied by Orchards" category. I applied a month after discharge and was even "pre-qualified" on their site so I figured I'd be OK.
I got a letter in the mail a week or so after I applied that said I had a significant delinquency in my credit history. I can't seem to find out what they're looking at since everything says IIB right now, but I suppose it's the price I'm going to have to pay for a while.

Never ever? So they blacklist you as Chase does? When I called and asked them, they said that they will do a partially secured CC 1 year after discharge... Why do they say that? Do they just lie?Originally posted by AMISLANDER View PostBOA will not give you a credit card with a bk.

BOA will not give you a credit card with a bk.Originally posted by RBisDebtFree View PostDoes anybody have any info BoA? I want to go back banking with them and I did BK them $4k CC and $7k personal line of credit (CC in nature).
Do you know if / when I would be able to get a CC with them again? I wonder if it is a good idea to rebuild the relationship with them in case we would like to buy a place to live in 2-3 years (if it'll be reasonable of course)?

Yes, after you are discharged it will be reflected on your credit report as such. Mine took less than a week to display properly.
Sometimes you can get approvals without this, but I personally think its best to wait, my credit scores also jumped up a little bit after I was officially discharged.

Do you have to wait for something to be posted on your credit reports saying you were discharged before applying to cap one? Just wondering mine says something like BK 7 filed. Is there a new status I need to wait for before applying?

We are a little over a year out of discharge and I can't wait to get a "normal" credit card again. I am so sick of Hooters, Target, Orchard Bank, Best Buy, and Capital One. Hooters, Orchard Bank and Capital One all raised our rates to a ridiculous amount a few months back.
I plan on getting a credit card through my local credit union as soon as I am 2 years out of discharge (their requirements)

Well my hsuband applied for capital one and got denied...Originally posted by Logan View PostI have a Chase auto loan at 4.5% and a Chase Credit Card that was previously a WAMU card with a $7500 credit limit.
And yes, I did BK Chase.
Anything is possible
our credit was always in the 750's before we filed because we were never late.

And I have seen others have same experience with chase. So not to argue or disagree, I would like to ask: do they do it on individual basis? Are they even allowed to do this by the law? How about Equal Opportunity Lending / Housing?
And yes, I did BK Chase.

I felt bad about bk'ing citibank... they were good to me... I had zero percent interest on balance transfers for 1 year and a 8.9% interest rate... and a 20,000 limit... lol. It really helped me out though when I moved overseas and then got laid off. I really thought after I started my new job in Denmark that I would just get it paid down...
But now, I guess I'm blacklisted for life... sucks too cause Citibank has their fingers in a lot of pots.

How does this happen? Do they give you the chance if you inquire why you were declined. Do you send a check with your credit app and say, "just in case you were looking for this?"Originally posted by backtoschool View PostAmex has an internal blacklist of anyone who has charged off a card with them or bked on them. They will not give you a new card unless you pay off what you owed them, even if the debt was discharged.
Citibank has an internal blacklist as well.
I somehow hear a Mr. Burns from The Simpsons in the background rubbing his hands together . . .
I'm including AmEx with a small balance. At some point in the future, I could see having an AmEx card as a helpful thing, but I could probably just as easily live without it.
Weird.
As for Citibank - Pffffft. I felt guilty about them until I remembered they jacked my up to 29% interest even though I had never been late on them or gone over credit limit. Pfffft. I can live without them.

If you meet the criteria and have sufficient income / down, they can't legally deny you just because you are in a blacklist? I mean, is it legal for a bank to have a black list? If so, what's the point of Equal Opportunity Lending?
Can you tell me where I can find more info on which other banks blacklist their bankrupt customers?
Thanks a lot for the info!
Citibank has an internal blacklist as well.
