Not sure if I am correct, but I thought you couldn't apply for cc until after you are discharged. Did you get the Orchard card during the bk? I applied for Orchard and got accepted...and I still haven't received my card yet and it's been 3 weeks.

As for other BK friendly creditors early in the process-there really are no guarantees. I think that once you have other accounts reporting, Capital One and Providian would have about a 50/50 shot of approval. (DH got Capital One, $500 limit & $19 annual fee but I think his mom adding him as an AU to one of her accounts helped for that.)

I do hear that Quik Trip, Race Trac, Walmart, and Target are possibilities for 1-2 months after discharge. Limits will be tiny, but perhaps that is best anyhow, and if rebuilding is the only point then limit is probably not a major issue.

I would suggest (Even though I have dealings of nasty nature with them) Capital One, American Express and Bank of America.

Why? They are getting away from "Universal Default"

              Here's the answer...Good reading!

Oh, here's more (From another board, you may have to register, but it's also a good place....I think)

I think Capital One would be more likely to approve if you have another card or 2 reporting already. DH applied in Oct, declined due to lack of credit accounts established. After that, his mom added him to one of her cards, and we jointly have a $300 Orchard reporting already and he was approved for $500 limit w/ $19 annual fee on Cap1. It wasn't an instant approval, got the message that he'd hear back in 7-10 days, but the card came less than a week later.

So-Bkfiler-my theory is that if you don't want to bother with CJ, then wait until the Orchard reports before applying for anything else. Most likely, it will show on your EX around Jan 5-7, on EQ a day or 2 later, and TU a week after that.
