Ok. If I somehow managed to get TransUnion to remove an account from my report, (WOOHOO!!) how long will it take to reflect upon my credit score? I believe that I have gotten that particular report as clean as possible and wondering how long I should wait to check my score for improvements, since I have to pay for each score.

Can anyone answer this?
"Comment: Bankruptcy Chapter 7, Bankruptcy petition". What exactly does this mean? Should it be a concern?

Yes, you also get the three credit scores, too. Though they will be fako instead of your Fico, which is what most Banks still use. But, it will still give you an idea of how things change over time.

That sounds like a good deal. I will look into that one. Does that include the scores as well, or just the reports?

As far as credit monitoring I use CreditCheckTotal it is a good one for pulling daily all three reports and is $12.95 a month, if the cost is higher call the 800#. Cap1 was reporting correctly during the bk, but as soon as I was discharged they started reporting the balances... glad I have a monitoring and credit puller to keep up on the status of my reports.Last edited by lrprn; 02-20-2010, 03:42 PM. Ok. I started with my Equifax report. Got a score of 674! Couldn't believe that it was still in the "average" range. Fell off from a 746 prior to the BK though. But that is not my concern. I noticed that I have one account that shows as being a "CHARGE OFF". This account was most definitely included in my bankruptcy. I attempted to dispute it via the online option, but my report does not provide me with the account number.
It shows "Account Number: XXXX" or Not available
And, in order to make a dispute, I must provide the account number!?!!?
How can I obtain this?
Also, I have an account that shows to be "current status: Pays as Agreed" "Comments: Account closed by credit grantor". It was closed 12/2009. I filed BK on 10/20/09. Can I have this comment removed, since it was closed post BK?
And one that says, "Comment: Bankruptcy Chapter 7, Bankruptcy petition". What exactly does this mean? Should it be a concern?
Lastly, what is the best/cheapest way to get all three scores?
I know I am asking a lot of questions here, but I have read a ton of these threads and I honestly feel that this is the best place to get great info. from reliable intellectuals. And maybe the information provided to me will be of use to future patrons.
Thanks to all!

I began immediately with fixing my credit reports and reestablishing credit. I'm 38 and have never owned my own home and I intend to do it within the next 2-3 years. A good place to start is to get your free credit reports from each of the 3 bureaus from annualcreditreport.com. To monitor your TU and EQ scores, myfico.com is a good place. Some BK friendly creditors are Cap 1, Orchard, Hooters, Kay and Jared. I have raised my scores about 100 points for each bureau in a year. I think I have an old thread floating around here with some specific examples of things I've done. Good luck to you and feel free to ask me any questions.
Oh, one other thing, you may want to check out creditboards.com. It is a great place to learn about credit repair.

Congrats on your discharge!
I waited one month to pull my reports and discovered (hope) I should have delayed this. The seemingly endless disputes are tedious (however, this isn't the case for everyone). I have to present my reports next week so I didn't have a choice.
Be prepared for numerous "pre-qualified" credit card offers. Don't forget to read the fine print. There are plenty of interesting "deals" out there.

You have not seen a better place for help and support. I/we were dumb as bricks and made every mistake possible in our bk. We now know a bit, but not supper lawyers understand. Welcome to our "family". 'Hub.Originally posted by kbf419 View PostYes, I am young and intend on purchasing a house in the future. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Admirable, but not necessary. Cash is king. I had an 820 when we C7. I have no idea what it is now. We don't care as we won't use it. You are younger is my guess, but please be careful not to sell your soul to the creditor. The debtor is subservient to the creditor.Originally posted by kbf419 View PostThanks for the laugh. Grats on your new start and Mrs. and I sure do wish you well in your new life. 'Hub

Hey brother, take a break. You just got your new start in life. Credit got you here, why worry about credit ratings? In this economy, who has credit ratings, as they are now becoming obsolete.
Anyway, you deserve our traditional Official (unofficially) "Dance of Victory", by our World famous hamsters, so, here you go:

Recently received discharge
I just received my discharge papers in the mail today!!! Thank god! It was a Chapter 7. I know that I need to review my credit reports and make sure that all accounts are showing to be "discharged in bankruptcy". How soon should I begin this process? Does it take a certain amount of time for them to show as being discharged on my credit report, or should it have already been listed this way? Thank you in advance for your time!Tags: None
