    Applying credit card spouse?

If I apply fora credit card get approved , Would it be better to just add husband autorized user ? And let him apply for another card and add me? So we will not have inquiry .. I have already applied for household if approved I was going to add him...
But having trouble finding another credit card company with only a annual fee .. I keep finding activation fee one time setup fee.. I can understand the annual fee but all the other ones I am not interested in .. household / HSBC .. just had the annual fee was all I saw.. but I guess I will see when they contact me.. Also I thought I had read it was bad to apply for a credit card your claimed on BK .. like capitol one beacuse they could renew your old acct? Is this really true?

    Any other ideas?

yes adding your spouse onto your credit card is a good idea. helps build credit.

if you are new out of bk applying for credit cards wont hurt too much. its only a point or so each time. orchard/hsbc is a good card. not sure what you dont like about them.

try newmilleniumbank card. its a secured card only, decent fees and they dont run a credit check. it will never turn into an unsecured card though. you can have abywhere from 300 to 5000 and up to 2 accounts. something to think about.

we have been hearing that as well but no prove yet that i have seen with getting credit from a bk'ed creditor and then oweing it all back. once the debt was discharged then you cant owe it again no matter what. its gone. however, maybe they scam you into paying it as a entry fee into their new credit card. (id be suprised if normal banks are doing this - can you imagine a $12,000 application fee lol) guess you would have to ask questions and read the fine print.

also, OPT in the system and you can start receiving offers. more time equals more offers equals better offers.

also try crownjewelers.com. they accept everyone it seems and report to all 3 as well just like orchard and newmilleniumbank.

what do you think about finding someone with good credit to add us to their acct as a authorized user? or is that too risky ya think? they may have good credit but turn into bad so quickly.. it is a chance i guess.. but works if you do not get approved.

Being added as an authorized user is good, as long as the account has a perfect payment history and low balance. If the account goes bad, you're correct-it would hurt.

DH & I are also sharing accounts to maximize potential. NOt all creditors allow joint/authorized account holders but some will. Kind of a 2 for 1...

One thing I noticed in your signature-Don't rely on credit scores unless they are from FICO.

Is a FICO diffrent? I am still waiting for my equifax , trans, in the mail. but I just paid 5.00 for my experian when ordered credit online.
I was looking into this disputing your credit reports and I had found on another rebuiling credit board this one person denys all her debt on credit and it has come off after several times even the bankruptcy notice That I was amazed about.. I also read it was okay to do this beacuse that is what credit rebuilder companies do as well they swamp them with notices then eventually it is all off.. on this particular board it seems to be workig for these people. I just do not want to do anything to bite me in the rear ya know.... I am in desperate need of reestablishing credit for sure,. Do to the refi I need to do in October due to a arm that goes way up to something I cannot afford... So I am trying to get a head start.. But on the other hand do not want to hurt myself . I have already make a big.. boo boo I think. I applied on carloans.com now I have everybody calling they ran my husbands credit . how many times is the question .. Just scary.I replied to carloans.com to stop running not sure if this will help ..

Anyone can build a credit score. That doesn't mean they will all be based on the same rules. The scores most often used by creditors is FICO. Anything else is a 'FAKO'. Kind of like school systems, they all grade but they may have different ways to evaluate and different standards. An 'A' at a 'bad school' may not mean as much as a 'B' at a really good school.

Don't put too much $ and stress into FICO. Work first on getting things cleaned up on your credit report, and re-establishing, and FICO will improve from your efforts.

$10 monthly fee, $2 if you want to draw your own cash out. The only thing I could find out about the 'credit rebuilder' program is that each month they'll report your monthly fee payment to the CRA's. It is hard to say whether this will help/hurt/have no effect because its impossible to know HOW they report it. Installment account or revolving? Do they report a credit limit? (You don't have one, since its a debit card, so I'd guess NO. Problem w/ accounts that don't report a credit limit is it appears that you're maxed out and that hurts FICO.)

There is no quick fix, but that is ok... Work on cleaning up what you can, and open 1-2 cards. If you & your spouse each get an Orchard card, you should be able to add the other. You'll have to call, and they'll send you a form to complete, sign, and send back. Cleaning, having new/positive accounts reporting/waiting for time to pass are the simple requirements...

I am NW of Atlanta. My parents live outside of Greenville. My mom works at Walmart, though I realize there are probably several around!

For Cap1, I'd suggest wait to apply after other positives are reporting. Reason is that DH was declined, and after his mom added him as an AU to one of her accounts & I added him to my Orchard, he was able to get a $500 limit Cap1 w/ $19 annual fee.

Yes thanks for looking into that site , It always looks good at firsdt then when you think about it and someone else looks into is always a good idea I just came across it in my search . I looked for the monthly fee but could not find it your good...

I will most likely have to wait on adding capital one then .. So if I get approved with household I will add him ..
Now for him crownjeweler was a good choice if I can get to there website it shows not working for some reason.. Maybe later..

Orchard bank had a fee startup and higher fees all the way around so I will wait and see what happens with househole since it is just a annual fee..

CJ may be improving their security measures. THere is a very active thread about it over at creditboards.com regarding people who paid their CJ account thru CJ's website and had their debit/credit card # stolen.

FYI-you can also pay CJ thru Paypal, or send a payment in. You don't HAVE to use their site.

When Dh applied for Cap1, he got a 'we'll let you know' type message rather than an autoapproval. The card came the next week.

My Dh was almost a blank canvas for credit. He has:

                            BK filed 09/05
CO credit card DLA 01/01 *should be gone in 2 years
Judgement filed 04/00 *should be gone in a little over 1 year
(There had been a vehicle loan-but Chrysler deleted the tradeline rather than updating it to be IIB. No complaints from me-it had plenty of late payments...)

Other than the BK, his bad stuff is 5 years old or more. But, he had no good stuff. After filing, his mom added him as an AU on one of her accounts, I added him to my Orchard, and he got his own CJ. With those reporting, he was able to get Cap1. Trying to figure out if Cap1 reports AU's, and if so, we'll add me to it. (I'm more the typical post-bk credit-misc. odds & ends over the years!) And he has the 722 redemption loan. Except for his mom's account, everything was opend 10/05 or later... Anyhow, his EQ FICO is in the 655 area. Too bad his won't count for the mortgage process...

invest1choice...my husband and I both got the Orchard bank cards and the Target(red) cards. I applied for and received a Cap One card. I had one years ago pre-BK. My credit limit is $1K. We filed on Household but still received Target cards which are tied to Household Bank. I guess they didnt make the connection. I would be totally embarrassed however, to apply for a loan with a company who was included in BK although I have a friend who did and she received a new card...lower limit which she likes. She told them she does not want her limit raised. Whether they adhere to that remains to be seen. Anyway, we have managed to get several unsecured cards. We are rebuilding our credit so paying a few extra fees is part of the program.
