I got discharged about a month ago, and already got an prescreened offer from Providian for an unsecured no fee card. I would like this card, but not if they check my credit and then turn me down because of BK. Don't want a bunch of inquires on my credit as I'm trying to rebuild my credit.Anyone have experiences with this company?

if it says pre-screend and not guarnteed or the like then they will probably run your credit. they prob already know you are bk'ed so doubt they will deny you on that.
wait a bit longer for guaranteed offers. of go apply for orchard.Im not an attorney or a trustee. You cant trust me either though!

I've heard that Providian is generally not too pre-occupied w/ the BK but are not likely to approve unless you have already established some accounts. (Based on people posting at creditboards.com who were given the reason of too few tradelines reporting, or something like that, for a decline reason.)Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

I applied for Orchard and I got approved and we have only been out of BK 1/3/06 .. but on the other hand my husband apply to and he got denied.. how weird is that? But at least I got it so I will just add him. Providian I did try and got denied.Only reason I applied was because I seen on a site that they approve BK.. but not this soon... Anyways My husband went to this car dealer and they told him no because He was only authorized user 's and never had a credit card in his name and a authorized user does not cout... that was the first time I heard that ...DISCHARGED Case CLOSED = 01/03/2006

The AU/responsible party doesn't matter too much to credit scoring, but someone looking at the report for a manual review could have an issue.
Look out for the letter to come in the mail for the decline from Orchard-there is a decent chance that the reason is something you can take care of. They may just want him to pay the annual fee in advance, for example. (I've seen where some people at Creditboards posted being asked to pay their fee when they did the app process.)Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research.
