    Approved for Target

    I can't believe it...

I mainly applied because 1. I'd like another new account that can reach 6 months old before its time to apply for a mortgage and 2. I have no recent EQ inquiries, and know that Target is most likely to pull EQ in GA.

Did the online app, got a 'further proceessing required' message but it also gave me an app # and a link to check status. It said I could check status anytime, so I did. The next screen said Approved. Almost fell out of my chair.

Limit will be low-$200 most likely. That's ok-I don't really even shop at Target. It is just a pawn in the 'build a better credit score' simulation game.

Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.

I had nothing to lose-a decline wouldn't have hurt, as it would have been the only inquiry on EQ. (Recently, at least. There are some from 2004.)

Congrats, StaciMM if you don't mind me asking what is your credit score? I know that my score is low it is around 530 right now so I got a long way to go to rebuild.

My EQ FICO is ~600. I don't check them monthly, but I do have Equifax Scorewatch for $7.95/mo, and it sends me an alert whenever the score changes. I won't buy TU/EX Fico's for a couple of months still.

I've finished cleaning up my BK accounts-though there are still errors, no BK related, on Experian. (EX tends to make things worse before better, grrr!) I started working on the cleanup about a month after filing.

IF you still have BK accounts showing with a balance owed, that is pulling down your score. Work on fixing those things. 2nd step is establishing new/positive history after the BK.
