How is the best way for me to rebuild my credit

I filed for Chapter 7, February 2000. Since then we have got everything in my dh's name (who filed Chapter 13). I just applied and got an Orchard Master card. My credit scores range from 590-607. What should I do to bring my score up to being good.

Correct all errors on all 3 of your credit reports.

Pay your bills on or ahead of time!

Open up lines of credit but don't use them, or use very little. Chop up those cards! And only charge what you can afford to pay off at the end of the month, unless its a REAL emergency. Not a clothing emergency or you're really really hungry and want to eat out emergency.

Dispute EVERYTHING on your credit report. Yes, they are allowed to report ACCURATE info but sometiems just by disputing items they will come off.

I don't have any bills in my name. The only card I have is a mastercard I am using to pay for gas. I don't buy clothes even though I need them.

I am trying to figure out how to raise my score when I have no bills. I guess the one way to start is with the card I just got.

Keep the card at a low balance, always pay on time. And, your husband can call and add you as an authorized user on some of his cards-that will help also as long as those accounts have a good payment history. After those start reporting for you, try adding more accounts here & there. Nothing excessive, but having several accounts reporting good history will do more than 1.
Most of my information is from personal experience or HOURS and HOURS of online research. When you're searching online, keep in mind there is no guarantee that the info is completely up to date, and your situation is unique from anyone else's. Do your homework, and consult with an attorney so you can make an informed decision.
