I will never go back to banking with a "big" bank again. After finding the wonderful world of credit unions... that's where my money will be staying.

I'm confused... Can you get a bank account with a bank you Bk'd or can they decline you based on their loss? Or is it just Chase who is lenient with their checking accounts post bk?
Filed No Asset Chp 7 BK: January 2010
Discharged: August 2010 A life lesson well learned.
My update is that last night I crunched numbers, scraped together enough rent money for Sept. 1, leaving enough cash left over to get through the month with $100 to spare.
This morning I took the $100 over to my local Chase branch and opened a checking account with no problem whatsoever. They said that I can expect to receive the $125 bonus within a week or so.
The only hitch was that they charge you for a box of personal checks. Not a problem as far as I was concerned -- I actually needed some new ones anyway and I'm still making a profit from the $125 bonus.
The only weird thing was that the customer service rep who helped me asked: "So have you had a Chase credit card in the past?" I answered yes and skipped all the gory details about my bankruptcy and foreclosure. Then when she asked me to create a password for my online Chase banking, there was a pre-created username for me that the computer had generated.... it was the same username I used years ago when I had the Chase credit cards that I later defaulted on!
She was all smiles and very welcoming toward me and didn't indicate that there were any problems... but I find it weird that I'm going to have the exact same username from my old pre-BK days.
